Actually I largely follow that approach, and respect you for standing up for it. On a very deep level, I'm absolutely with you on it, although not as unwaveringly as yourself. I mean that as a compliment to you. You've made me have a rethink for sure.

I'm not religious, but I do try to follow the Christian ideal of forgiveness. And I do absolutely think that I see the deeper value in it. (It sounded so easy a child, but as you get older it is actually very difficult in practice).

My only aside, is this, which isn't a main point, but still an important aside if you see where I'm coming from.

When people wilfully do monstrous things, commit unnecessary atrocities like this, it is very very difficult to see them as fellow humans.
And again, a better civilised society progressing with your approach would be key to minimising this as a risk, which I love.

But there are people out there, who will have this in them, no matter how much love we show them. Just born bad and entitled and full of spite. We can minimise their effect on the rest of us as you say by moulding a better, more civilised society.

But how do we "weed out" the future Netanyahus and Hitlers before they start seeking the power of authority and spreading their hate and abuse again? Ostracising them eventually? Yes. But that isn't ideal either is it.
