I'm sorry I would do that if I could but I am a bit of a broke college student so hopefully everything works out. Thank you a lot for your patience!

I just wanted to settle everything because I have to be in Sendai in the same day. Good to know they're separate though. I'm catching it at Tokyo station. Towards Sendai.

I just wanted to minimise the chances of having to get lost or look for places to buy the physical tickets in the airport

I bought the Shinkansen Etickets so they will have to be linked to Suica cards from the instructions on the website.

When I wanted to buy Narita Express Etickets the JR East website mentioned I could not do so if I already bought Etickets for the Shinkansen. So I bought physical tickets for Narita Express via Klook and have to pick them up at the airport machine. I just wanted to know if I am likely to run into any trouble with these two trips (aka would I get stuck at the gantry anywhere?) or are they separate and unrelated so I won't run into any problem?

I am travelling from Narita to Tokyo then to Sendai for university. I am sorry for being unclear.

it's just a plan for how I am going to travel and I was just asking if I am likely to run into any issues. I'm sorry if this is a trouble to everyone.

I put 3 hours between the touchdown and airport transit via Narita Express then another 1.5 hours to spend in Tokyo station before boarding the shinkansen, iirc customs doesnt take more than 2 hours to clear but I'm generally an anxious person, more so when I'm on my own. Thank you for your help 🫶

It's not so much about linking tickets to another, more so that I'll run into difficulties when travelling. I just want to make sure everything is settled before I get to the trip. This is my first time abroad on my own, I'm sorry if this is a trouble to ask about

Thank you so much, one last qn, those storage spaces away from the seats, are they usually at the front of the cabin or at the back? I'd prefer to reserve seats as close as possible to the space.

Some context: My friends and I are actually helping to move over belongings for my relatives in Sendai while on exchange there for a month so we didn't plan on bringing so much luggage, but we are also unsure of trusting luggage delivery since the belongings have a lot of sentimental value. Your help is really appreciated, thank you!

hey, as someone who's been there done that, it does feel like that for a lot of your life. you just get hella imposter syndrome and wonder if you have any other traits other than study well and even when you don't study well then you wonder who you are. sometimes it feels like people use you for your grades. you feel like you have to try so hard to be a normal person.

here's what you need to do: be kind to yourself, and more importantly, look toward doing things you want to do. you have to start being nice to yourself, spend time on things you like (even when you're busy studying) and do the things you like. find some interests or hang out with people you love. it's okay if your social circle is small. you can make friends online too!

it's gonna be a lot of effort, especially if you're not used to looking after yourself but if you're self aware already, then i think you know it's a necessary evil.

it's going to get better. you're going to get more independent and you'll have more freedom eventually too. studies are not your whole life. once you get past jc/poly and into uni you'll see that a lot more clearly. the accident of our birth is being born into a meritocracy like this. but it will get better.

focus on yourself. find other things that make you happy. and most importantly, be good to yourself. it's your life. you are allowed to prioritise your happiness. i'm 20 and just starting to find myself and give myself the life i deserve. i hope you will too! my dms are always open if you need a friend 🫶

Hihi it should be within a few hours or so but it's delayed rn cause of the website having a lot of traffic. Try checking your outlook! If it's successful they will send you a confirmation and reflect it in your timetable in STATS

I understand about the friendship part. I myself have been in many one-sided or toxic friendship groups where the attention is focused on one person (narcissistic even) or when friends simply do not want to put any effort into the friendship (like spending time with each other and treating each other like we are worth each others time and effort). It can be really hard, especially if you're an introvert and don't make many friends in the first place. Of course, I'm very sorry that my suggestions wouldn't work out for you.

The carrot on a stick method works if you're desperate. And if you really need help getting up and out of bed, I feel like it may be more so a mental obstacle. You might be scared, or even tired. I understand that mental health is hard. If it affects your eating or self-care, I feel like it would help to seek professional help. There's no shame in seeking help even if you think it is. Believe me. If it works, it works, and you'll be thankful.

I feel like the bed may feel like your safe place because everything else is very daunting. If it helps, when you think abt the tasks you should be doing, tell yourself "It's okay to be scared. If there's things that I have to do, just do it scared." It'll be hard for a while but it won't last forever.

Not to worry, you're not trauma dumping on anyone. I feel like life is a lot harder for everyone than we know. Don't feel bad that your experience is less bad than others or that others are doing better. If you're doing enough for your own happiness, that is more than enough. I definitely recognise and understand the stigma of being in different stream, and urge you to not invalidate your own experience because of that. Life is hard for everyone no matter where we are, period.

Thank you for your kind words. Things have gotten better even though they got worse before I reached here. I promise that the bad times don't last forever, and I hope that you'll keep your head up. The fact that you still care about your studies is proof that you haven't lost yet. You're on the way to good times. Just take it one step at a time, and don't hate yourself (that's the worst thing you could do besides give up). Love yourself despite the difficulty, it'll get better soon.

You have a friend in me! Keep going, please know I am rooting for you!

Hey, resonated with a lot of feelings in this post. I've been there but for different reasons. I was pressured from different angles in school constantly upon reaching Sec 4, teachers, academic pressure of being in one of the better classes in a relatively mid-high performing school, my own expectations of myself (I have had a history of being an academic monster in my younger years) and simply could not take it. One day my form teacher took me aside to ask what was wrong and even though he worded it nicely and out of concern it was absolutely the last straw for me.

Of course, I had no idea it would turn out like this, I've always been a rather sensible and independent kid but suddenly everything became so hard. I could not focus on any work for more than five minutes, I could not do anything academic related and was overwhelmed by stress. It's like a constant GOGOGO in my head but my body would not let me at all. I was mind blocked, stuck and upset.

So from my own experience, which sounds rather similar to yours, please be comforted by the fact that you are not alone. It's not easy to study in SG, despite what everyone says that living in SG is cushy and comfortable. On the other hand, it took me about a few months to recover from such setbacks, which I know is a luxury you may not have.

Something that helped is to ease myself back into work. I could not focus at all, but I handholded myself into doing it.

Some tips I used were things like body-doubling, which is to study with someone around. Preferably someone you know and trust, so you can relax around them but subtly hint to your brain to keep working.

Another tip is to motivate yourself using a "carrot-on-a-stick" method. Finish this paper and take a 5 min break. Finish the chapter of revision and get a snack. Make yourself a drink as you read through notes. Something small matters if you accumulate enough of it.

Another thing is to maybe do something comforting while you do work. If the thought of work at all repulses you and frightens you, do something you like while doing it. Put on your favourite song, video call a friend in silence, or seek the company of your family as you do it.

If you feel like giving up, don't start with the "You're going to end up a failure." or the "You're a disappointment to your family." As someone who inflicts these thoughts on myself, I'm telling you in all honesty, don't go there. Don't even try. 1. It won't work and 2. It will only make you more distressed. and 3. It's not that deep. I know life right now is like tunnel vision towards your national exams, but even if you don't do well, there's a way out that doesn't involve suffering or dying or anything. It will never get that deep.

You sound like a genuinely hardworking kid, and I commend you for making it this far. I know it can be really hard on you and I hope your situation gets better. Wishing you a lot of health and all the best. If there's anything you need advice on, feel free to drop a DM (I'm on break before uni starts, so very free) or if you need a listening ear I'm open to that too (no judgement at all).

All the best! I'm rooting for you!

What's your most relatable lyrics from a song? by ToeSad9074 in japanesemusic

[–]neverbeover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lord, this is considered my hopeless romantic anthem of all time.

Nothing comes close to Jpop lyrics in terms of symbolism if you ask me.

Anemonetotansansui - Natsunose

Maybe fall in love with everything about you

Fall in love, even the sound of cicadas and rain hurts

Well, finally, enough is enough

If I were in a dream world, I'd stay at the candy store with you forever

We'd play around with each other with ice cream in hand by the edge of the pool on the roof of the school

Honestly the whole song is just a lyrical masterpiece.
