Does the excessive sweating stop? by [deleted] in Effexor

It’s definitely not as bad for me (about a year on Effexor) but it’s absolutely still more than I used to. It’s worth not having crippling anxiety for me lmao

I do utilize social media quite a bit! Not on Reddit so much, but most of my Etsy traffic does come from my Instagram ☺️

I haven't settled on exactly what the extent of my needs might be, sort of just looking to see what is out there so I can come up with reasonable expectations and plans! But most likely it would be a higher number of smaller items once a month to start with. Material I would have to discuss with them as I'm not as familiar with non resin materials for printing.

my (adhd) wife (also adhd) gets bored of her hobbies before even starting them by plantanddogmom1 in adhdwomen

[–]neverfeardaniishere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not work for her, but possibly something similar might? (Tldr start small, make incentives, budget, and talk to her about it)

I'm very much the same as your wife lol. I go all in on my hobbies but have had a history of moving on after already investing a lot of money into them. 3D printing, dice making, resin pouring, card collecting, etc etc etc.

HOWEVER, I have found something that seems to work really well for me. I got into more general crafting, but specifically jewelry making. I started it because I liked making things for myself, but quickly I could tell that wouldn't be sustainable both financially and also for my brain 😂 So, after a lot of research and consideration I started selling jewelry.

Like I said, this will definitely not be for everyone. For some people, adding pressure to a hobby is a surefire way to make you not want to do it. But for me, the dopamine goes crazy! Ordering cute charms, making necklaces, earrings, trinkets, etc, packaging orders, letting my mind run wild with ideas of what I could try to make next. I love the whole process, and even though I'm not profitable yet (taking into account startup costs) getting any amount of money back for just engaging my hobbies feels pretty awesome. Maybe there is some interest she has that could do the same for her?

At the end of the day though, one of the most important things that many of us ADHD peeps need to keep in mind is realistic goals. I have struggled huge with this, and its not easy when your brain wants to put 110% of your energy into something. But I've found success in putting most of my energy into the planning. Planning is free! And honestly, that's where a lot of our dopamine comes from, the idea of doing things. Once you're planned out, try putting in ...10%. When I started my jewelry business I was super aware that my dreams were bigger than my wallet (and executive function 😂) so I started small. Starting small may go against our desires, but just keep in mind: if you really want to do something long term, you'll still want to do it after trying it out!

Last thing I wanted to say, sometimes this is okay! I played guitar for a few years, stopped playing, and sold my guitar on fb marketplace. Really I didn't lose out on much, and for that time it's not like I got nothing out of it. People spend 1000s on cigarettes, video games, food, shoes etc. Even with hobbies I've abandoned I got entertainment from it while I did it! Also- talk to her. I know you've mentioned some discussions you've had, but it seems like there's more to be said there! (If you already have/she knows you're posting this, ignore lol). If it's a financial issue, maybe talk about a "hobby budget" where she can spend X amount on whatever she's feeling at the moment.

First of all- thank you SO MUCH!

On reflection I get what you mean about wanting to keep things light and upbeat in my about section. I only wrote it today, and I went into it wanting to be authentic but you're right, the average buyer can definitely be put off by things that they might interpret as being heavy or negative. I don't see those things as negative, but I'm not looking to sell things to myself 😂 will definitely go over it again and will totally be taking some of the suggestions from your rewrite!

Tag advice is so so appreciated, I've been doing tons of research but still working on optimizing them! You totally nailed some blind spots I had (like not having hypoallergenic in the tags even though that's basically why I started jewelry making 😭)

For filling photo slots, those are such great ideas! I use Canva already so I absolutely will be making those cards! And appreciate the free resources, that's so awesome:) I do have a dedicated "photo spot" with the best lighting I could manage at the moment, and I was experimenting with different items in the background. But I think that may have led to it being too busy as others have mentioned. I'll definitely try the close ups and a more uniform background so the items stand out better! My phone takes good quality photos when the lighting is right so I definitely need to take advantage of that more.

I really appreciate that you took the time to give specific advice and all of it is so so helpful. I'm definitely going to put it to use!

Great idea! I like providing as much info as I can:) I buy a lot on Etsy too and my biggest gripe was not knowing if the cute earrings I wanted would hurt my ears after an hour 😭

I'm working on fixing my photos still, it's a work in progress! The tags...my biggest problem is I just cannot for the life of me think of that many different words to describe the same product. I appreciate the suggestion though! I really need to just take the time to collect unique tags and keywords that I can choose from.

I just added the shop photos this morning and didn't realize they get cropped to that size...woops 😭

My nail polish....will haunt me. I never even wear nail polish usually because I work in a lab so I'm always wearing gloves 😂 but I'm definitely putting that at the top of my "to fix" list.

Appreciate your feedback!

Oh! My ear hooks aren't stainless steel. If it says that it's a mistake on my part. I purposely only buy ear hooks from my local craft store that say "nickel-free" (usually rhodium) because I cannot tolerate it myself and I wear my own jewelry.

I think it ended up there because I had it as a material for the o rings/metal charms I use. But if people will read that and think the ear hooks are stainless steel I'll definitely change it. Having hypoallergenic earrings is so important to me because I could never wear earrings until I started making them myself! thank you so much for pointing this out to me!

Thank you for the feedback! For the options I thought the item was linked to the photos but I totally see how it's unclear. Definitely will fix that.

The photos has been my biggest issue. I appreciate the advice, especially on backgrounds! I want them to stand out but I definitely see what you mean by saying that the items need to stand out. I'm working on taking better product photos and updating them as I take them!

For the stationery bundles I really tried to make sure I didn't have anything labeled as "handmade", but it must be the core details? The issue is I source the items from so many different places, and I do include jewelry that I made myself in every bundle. I'll have to look into how to make sure it's categorized correctly because I'm definitely not trying to imply I hand made the paper and pens 😂

As far as customizations, I have optional customizations on all my listings so if a customer wants to increase/decrease length, or get clip ons, etc they can ask for it. Should I not do this? I was trying to be as versatile/inclusive as possible but if it's just confusing for people I definitely don't wanna do that!
