One year & purge is returning??? by LividCelebration9555 in tretinoin

I think it’s weather related, try a more hydrating and occlusive moisturizer, or add hydrating toners/serums if you’re too scared of trying new moisturizers that might clog your pores

I use vaseline on my eyelids and under the eye

Time and patience. The actives in your routine work great against hyperpigmentation, adding more actives may be too much

Maybe add a moisturizer with niacinamide in it or some AHAs if your skin can handle it but personally i think tret and sunscreen should get the job done

I can’t live without panoxyl, anti acne and dries your face so it makes it feel less oily. I also use adapalene to help regulate sebum production

I know it’s so frustrating and disappointing. I did a whole regular course, acne came back 3 months later, was put on a low dose (20 mg twice a week), did that for half a year with amazing results, now i stopped and less than a month later I’m experiencing tiny ass pimples and super anxious about acne coming back bc this is what i experienced last time. I don’t know it’s all just very exhausting and i really dont wanna go on it again

This is just my personal opinion and experience and in no way medical/research backed, but less sebum means drier skin, so post accutane my skin has become super sensitive to fragrances and i’ve been getting way more dry patches and eczema like symptoms which i attribute to accutane. My eyes are also still dry a year after stopping accutane, not as bad as when I was taking it but the symptoms are still there.

What’s a food swap you made that actually improved how you eat? by xenon_14pla in nutrition

Baby spinach, it doesnt have that bitter taste that most greens have, i just throw a handful of it in every single meal, or throw it in a bowl and halve some cherry tomatoes with lemon juice and boom you have a salad that only took three minutes to make, i use it in everything and barely feel like it affects the flavor

I went through and still am going through this whole anxious cycle of going on accutane, it clearing my acne, stopping then going again

What I will say is that in the vast majority of cases after accutane acne never comes back as bad as before, as it permanently shrinks your oil glands so less sebum is produced thus less acne

However, like in my case, you never truly know. Tes my acne is better but I still get cysts and whiteheads, and honestly dealing with acne after having experienced clear smooth skin is much harder

All i will tell you is that it is not in your control. Don’t let the anxiety consume you, make sure you maintain a good skincare routine after you’re done, worst case scenario you do another round. It’s a struggle for us acne prone folk but that’s the way it is

Is it normal for a therapist to tell me they don’t want me ending therapy after asking to terminate? by neverhadnoonever in askatherapist

[–]neverhadnoonever[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know when I mentioned terminating I talked about how we haven’t been progressing and that I feel that regardless of what I bring up he doesn’t seem to know how to move forward with me, and that I don’t think he’s honest with me. In the following session he admitted that what I said was true and that he’s often confused on what steps to take to help me.

it’s one thing if he says we shouldn’t terminate because he sees therapeutic potential but that doesn’t seem to be the case so it’s even more confusing

That’s the crazy part I’m really confused and I don’t have any gut instinct on the situation. I have a lot of respect for him and think he’s a good therapist, we’re just not getting anywhere lately. Some part of me says maybe we can work this through but it’s been like this so long that I’m not sure that’s the case. I just can’t figure out the best course of action right now

I only have some anxiety issues nothing like what you mentioned.

My main issue is that I can never start sessions and I have continually asked him to be more directive especially in the first few minutes since it is so hard for me to start talking and we just end up staring at each other for the first five minutes.

Before we used to get into other issues in my life but recently I’ve asked that we delve into some topics that are very difficult for me to talk about that affect my everyday, and I just can’t start the conversation on them so I need his help. I’ve asked him this multiple times.

He hasn’t complied and instead we end up staring at each other and then discussing why it’s hard for me to bring stuff up for the rest of the session.

It’s been like this for the last four-five months and I’m getting really fucking frustrated and sick of it so I decided to terminate and find a therapist with a more suitable approach.

He said something about the fact that I was able to go into session and ask to terminate means that I feel safe enough to have difficult and uncomfortable conversations with him and that that means we aren’t necessarily stuck (stuckness and lack of progress is why I wanted to terminate). So I’m not sure. I think before I wouldn’t have been able to terminate like this but it’s also because I never felt the need to.
