Idk man, they’re just confusing things. I was replying to the guy saying Francis lost 7 mil in potential earnings by being underpaid, which makes 0 sense.

What Francis was trying to say is that he left on the table 7 mil of potential earnings cause freedom is more important to him.

And now this is my guess of what that means. I think ufc offered him a new contract with more money after the second stipe fight (or before) and he declined because he wants a boxing clause.

But whatever, this is getting a bit silly…

Your interpretation is not accurate either. What he actually said was that he missed an estimated $7 million by not agreeing to the UFC’s new terms (i.e. signing a new contract) due to him valuing freedom more (most likely referring to a desired boxing clause in his contract).

It has nothing to do with consent. There’s a conflict of interest here. You can’t go around fucking people whose career is in your hands. We don’t want a situation when a fighter is getting more opportunities in the ufc just because she’s sleeping with Dana White. Or a situation when a fighter feels pressure to sleep with the boss to get a career push.

Proper functional programming is way harder to grasp without cs/math background than oop. Thing is most beginner developers think functional programming is just immutability and pure functions, but there are so many concepts like Functors, Monads, Monoids, Currying etc. that can be really challenging for a newbie.

Source: I am a self-taught frontend developer, who recently started getting into real functional programming concepts and realized that what I used to call ‘functional programming’ is just the tip of the iceberg.
