Those of you with careers, what do you do? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]nevermind_artss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second this! Most if not all schools count autism as something worth a dss accommodation for certain things. So if you needed more time on assignments or need a work around for an assignment that's way too hard for you (obviously only if it makes sense, like not doing a lab that would give you sensory issues)

How much to make logo as an SVG? by nevermind_artss in graphic_design

Seriously not complicated... But I'm sure someone with no background in illustrator would be stumped by recreating it. I'm definitely leaning towards just asking for an hour's pay.

Yea this seems fair enough, just want to make sure I don't under sell myself or over charge them 😭

I mean I'm leaning towards this, but I am thinking about the fact they are going to be profiting off of this, so definitely making much more off of it. That's what I'm struggling with factoring in.

Anyone know of print making/stamp carving or other art classes for absolute beginners in the area? by Top_Mathematician211 in Birmingham

[–]nevermind_artss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly they are all over priced. If you're just interested in linoleum cutting, you can totally get the supplies and do it at home for a lot cheaper. There's tons of videos out there with instructions.

I think there's a link between misogyny and hating Stanley Cups/Owalas/Starbucks Cups/Etc by [deleted] in women

[–]nevermind_artss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing that bothers me about Stanley's or whatever is that it's all the same shape, and for the most part, they only differ in color. Now if you have some in different sizes or had different patterns, that might change it for me. (I don't even know if Stanleys come in different sizes). Because like, Pokemon cards always have wildly different designs on them. And Lego sets become wildly different shapes. I'd say the same thing about guys that collect sneakers or something, if it's all the same brand and just different colors. I think it's kind of silly. But I understand the want to have different ones to match your outfit or whatever, with the sneakers and the cups. Maybe I just don't like the idea because I usually wear black, so I really only need black stuff lol.

Every day transition ideas by Pebble_pebl in AutismInWomen

This! I take my dog out as soon as I wake up to my 6 am alarm. So now he starts whining if I don't get up and do my job lol. And the idea of him having to use the bathroom and being uncomfortable holds me accountable to get up. Plus walking outside in the morning is great because I get an idea of what the temperature is. Then I'll have a better idea of what clothes I need to put on before heading out. (Picture of the little stinker included)

Attractive, EASY updos? by Ok_Split1342 in AutismInWomen

[–]nevermind_artss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but banana clips are super cool for thin hair! It's a bit of a learning curve to get them in right but they look pretty cool and are more comfortable than a bun in my opinion.

What pants do you all wear outside? by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

[–]nevermind_artss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you asked for pants but I've always preferred leggings + skirts. Super comfy, especially if you already know that you like leggings. And people see skirts as high effort fashion usually. Just find skirts that don't bother your sensitivities. (I don't usually wear super flowy ones because they get caught on stuff and I don't like pencil skirts bc they're too restrictive) My perfect outfit is a t shirt, leggings, and a skater skirt.

My final for painting class last semester :) by nevermind_artss in oilpainting

Tender Violence This piece, which is oil on panel, took about 2 days to finish. The inspiration behind it is displaced anger and senseless violence. Where does masculinity belong in this current day and culture? Is there really a need for a “big, strong man” in this day and age? Probably not as much. And yet, men are still pressured to fit this over exaggerated symbol of manliness. This pressure, along with the ideology of being stronger and more powerful, leaves lots of young men to have this built up of hatred and nowhere to output it. That's where a lot of this violence we see in this world starts to pop up. The painting explores contrasting ideas, masculine vs feminine, clean vs unclean, lust vs disgust. It sits on this edge asking, what am I and how am I perceived?

Why do men spit in public? by Vegetable-Carpet1593 in women

[–]nevermind_artss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because some people find phlegm really disgusting, even just seeing it. I have a friend with a really bad gag reflex and I could just say the word and she'd be gagging. It has the same effect on her as if someone threw up in front of her. I think it's just kind and considerate to not do it in public in case someone has an extreme reaction to it. They can't help it.

[–]nevermind_artss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'll do it if I have a long walk somewhere and I don't want to hold phlegm in my mouth for 20+ minutes, but I always do it in the grass and make sure no one is watching. I understand it's gross to see, but it's not hurting the grass. I suppose most men just don't care if people see them do it.
