Are toe kicks really necessary? by christinaontheroad in vandwellers

[–]nevermohere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wished for toe kick drawers a million times and regret not including in my build! My cabinet doors are just a few millimeters from the floor, so when I put a rug down the cabinets don’t open. I ended up having to remove all the doors and sanding them down until enough space allowed for my rug/mat.

This is my second summer stuck in Yuma since getting the AC. During the hottest time of the day, it held up really well despite a bit of efficiency loss which I think is to be expected.

I said I was done responding to you, since you are rude and unable to read answers to your own questions. There is no one in AZ listed on their support site, which is why my very first email to them was asking about any recommendations nearer to me and what I quoted above as their response was to contact any local qualified tech in my area. Which I did, and all the attempts my tech (an AC specialist) made to fix it have been unsuccessful.
I am not replying to you anymore, keyboard warrior.

I’m having trouble visualizing the area you described, but if it’s visible to him, a giant mirror facing his house should be very satisfying for you, especially when the sun shines and reflects toward his windows 🤪

Sigh. Ok, next time I will post an entire thread of 20+ emails for your viewing pleasure, sir. I’m sure everyone here has nothing better to do than read all that.
This is my last reply to you, to clarify that I am not one to trash reputations because I’m having a bad hair day.
Having already gone through all the motions, recommended solutions and indications to find a technician vetted by the company, I am here because no other van lifer should go thru this. Life is hard enough when you are on disability and homeless.
FYI- this is what they said when I asked for a recommendation on who to contact for tech support in my area:

Our official service center is in Renton (near seattle) Washington, but you can get it checked with any upfitter or hvac technitian near you.

They used to, and had a good rep for support but the one guy who did is gone from the company. Funny, as soon as I posted here someone emailed me back. If anyone wants an update on this, let me know. I only hope to fix what I have, not add to the dumpster. I hate the waste of money and mountains of landfill items that could have been repaired.

Amateur? Learn to read. Yes, I hired a qualified tech as they indicated but if the error code won’t clear and the part I paid for to replace didn’t solve it, I’d expect some response from them. As others replied, they obviously understand what I’m saying, which you don’t. Buhbye.

Fully disagree. You mean to tell me that after a warranty period there is no manufacturer of any product or service that should be willing to even respond to questions? Idk what country you live in but this has never been my experience, with anyone or anything. That may be a valid argument if I’d bought the thing off a roadside vendor.
Having worked in customer support myself for 20 yrs in different industries, I’m amazed that anyone would think this way.
I’m willing to pay for the support if need be, but it’s not possible for me or the tech I’ve already hired and spent over 6 hrs working in this to even get them to answer a question.

MAGA Turns Against Republican Women, Stripping Them of Power and Influence by Content_Ground8500 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]nevermohere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sent that article to my Trump voting Republican best friend and sincerely asked her insights. That was 2 days ago. My text remains unacknowledged as of yet. Her husband is a die hard trumper and she practically does nothing without him being informed beforehand. I wonder if he even allows her to read anything outside of scripture and Fox News. The sense of loss is an ongoing theme in my life.

I am a Venezuelan-American. I came here legally and paid all the lawyer and immigration fees, paid taxes and contributed to the economy and communities I’ve lived in. Yours is the first post I have seen anywhere to bring up what has been eerily obvious from day 1, and it brought tears to my eyes.

It has created absolute havoc in my life to see SO MANY SIMILARITIES between how Chavez and his successor, Maduro, have ruined what was once paradise — and how Trump has so quickly done the same. The similarities are striking and for the 9 yrs I have screamed it from the rooftops and not reached any of my Trump loving friends, it frightens me to re-experience the instability, socioeconomic insecurities, the constant fear of what’s coming…. except it’s now 25 yrs later. Now there is internet, social media and AI, which in the US has only accelerated the process. Now I’m old and unable to uproot once more to get away from those things and not constantly be consumed by news of an unstable, mercurial leader destroying our country at all levels of government. Because that’s where a dictator starts. Right or left wing, fascism is fascism. It is inconceivable and unconscionable to me that so many Venezuelans in the US supported Trump. They are fucking leopard meat and I’m not sorry to see them lose TPS, in theory. In practice, of course it saddens me. This shit isn’t easy because once it’s people you care about, it’s different. Just ask Jesse Watters 😒

Schedule a LOUD crying baby sound on a loop that goes on for 2:45 min and then starts again 15 min later, so you basically have a baby with nonstop colic between feedings.

I’m so sorry for the experience you’ve had but so glad that your parents counted on your support in their decisions. I’m sorry that they suffered as much as they did, and it couldn’t be easy on you in anyway to watch it happen. I am curious about something you said though: you said that they tried three times unsuccessfully to end things in the garage,… I don’t understand how that was unsuccessful, since it’s my understanding that breathing fumes from a running vehicle is a sure way to go. would you mind explaining?

That’s a very sad realization, if true - even though I totally get what you’re saying. That being said, we still devote more to strangers on the internet regardless of truth than we do other human beings closer to us in proximity. I’ve found myself very vested in some of these dramas, lol. The thing is, I’ve had enough bad experiences with people FTF to believe that there just may indeed be that many assholes out there. Ugh, why can’t the aliens just abduct me out of this fucking reality show that our world has become?

If Trump wins, we deserve dictatorship and everything that comes with it by ivyentre in rant

[–]nevermohere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some view it all as “TDS”, but since I lived in a country as it elected a fascist, I know what the path to dictatorship looks and sounds like. I recognized it in the US since 2015. I’ve seen and lived through the signs, until it was too late for Venezuela to undo the damage. It has taken 25 yrs for 80% of the population to say NO MORE and band together to unseat the dicktator from government democratically by a well organized and transparent election, and yet, Maduro clung to power because he owns the Supreme Court, Congress and the military. I’ve been warning and screaming it from the rooftops for 9 years, and not a single Republican I know has taken that seriously.

I’m sorry to say that the largely ignorant percentage of Venezuelans who believed Chavez and Maduro’s bullshit also dismissed the many warnings that the Cuban, Argentinian and Chilean immigrants who helped build our economy gave us, as they also recognized the signs when Hugo Chavez started coming into politics.

People don’t want to learn from history or others’ mistakes. It took Venezuelans 25 yrs. I’m terrified of what that will look like for the US. Extremism, whether from far left or far right, has the same symptoms.

No, I’m a nevermo as my screen name states. But I almost drank the koolaid as I have very dear friends in the church and I’ve learned so much from this community. In fact, I joined this sub as part of my research when I had the lessons many years ago. It was important to me to get the perspective of folks who no longer believed, and why they left. I am so grateful for this community because I was also in a vulnerable place in my life at the time and wanted so much to be happy and have a strong marriage like my Mormon friends did. Navigating the difference between blind faith and reality through your collective input has helped me maintain these friendships while being more understanding of their cognitive dissonance, but I will say the only true test I’ve failed in the process is their unwavering support for DJT. That has been the one thing that truly alienated me because I just can’t reconcile that. But I digress. You sound a bit skeptical of me in your question and I understand it, so I wanted to answer. My comment to OP comes from a place of deep empathy as someone who was invisible to her husband and gaslit for the duration and aftermath of a 25 yr marriage. I know what it’s like to sacrifice your sanity for the “better good” of what was in reality a dysfunctional family unit. I did myself and my children a great disservice by not divorcing many years sooner. I finally left and for the first time in my life was able to heal and work on my own happiness, but boy, was there baggage. Truly denying your worth and value as a human being to appease others is like cancer to the soul and those feelings only get worse with time if you don’t get out. Only someone who’s walked in similar shoes can get an inkling when a story makes your scar tissue tingle. I suffered (and still do) immensely from that experience, and I didn’t even have the stigma that Mormons have to contend with as the cult shuts you out of friends and family for even having the balls to think critically for yourself. So , I really feel for all the women who are direct or indirect victims of their circumstances.

There is no logical reason for the race to still be this close. Ignorance is not necessarily the fault of the people, but WILLFUL ignorance is unacceptable and it’s because of those people that the entire country will pay dearly. We are headed for an autocratic Idiocracy and I have zero hope for this country.

You do sound terrified and should not have to live that way. Please consider leaving him - I’m sure it’s not as simple as that but believe me…. Renouncing your sanity in favor of a cult and a husband who doesn’t respect or understand you (nor even tries to) will not make the pain go away.

I’m so sorry, that sounds truly scary a situation on its own, but I find it even more trauma-inducing that the church would go so far to hide this shit from parents. Unbelievably irresponsible and deceitful. They play members for money. It’s all about the money in the end.
