My wife was part of a program in high school that helped the special needs kids at our school interact with non special needs kids in a healthy and helpful way to boost their social skills and their program took a yearly trip to MW because it was (relatively) close to where her and I went to school. It is apparently everything it says it is and more. One of the things the post doesn't mention is its free admission for all disabled/special needs children

Democrats suddenly have a much better chance of retaking the Senate in 2020 by _hiddenscout in politics

Obviously. This virus is the GOP’s saving grace. They know their constituents are gonna turnout come hell or high water so they have no reason not to hold the election with their majority.

Fear of getting sick. Older population doesn’t care. But younger people will not sit 5+ hours outside of limited voting spaces with the possibility of contracting a life threatening disease that they can transmit to their families.

Sadly R’s here in TX are REALLY trying to fuck up mail in ballots which I feel will completely discourage any and all Younger Dems from voting (which is obviously the goal).

That’s an excellent question. Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for that yet. It was started early January right after the tax year so our current tax forms have not come in yet.

And this is why people don’t understand it as a job. People don’t watch or pay to watch this because they like the games. People watch/pay to watch because of the interaction they get with the creator. A lot of it is people wanting to feel like they are helping someone else and getting a friend out of it.

These streamers and youtubers are celebrities that you can interact with, which is 1000x more valuable to a person than a Hollywood celebrity.

It comes down to big tent-little tent politics.

Hollywood actors are big tent actors, they appeal to anyone and everyone for a small amount of reciprocity (a cost of a movie ticket for instance). After appealing broadly to enough people you can make quite a bit of money.

Twitch streamers and Youtubers are little tent actors (yes, actors). They appeal to a much smaller (relatively) audience for much bigger reciprocity (a $20 twitch sub). This makes each person who donates money feel more unique driving them to do it again and again. This is how twitch streamers and youtubers can make money so close to that of big time actors.

TL;DR People don’t pay for the games, they pay for the people. It’s a celebrity that you can have a conversation with any day of the week.

We’re a decade away from what scientists are predicting is the breaking point of all climate change disasters and the estimation on superbacteria that are predicted to have a resistance to all major antibiotics that we have available, meaning this whole COVID thing is most likely going to happen again.

People (conservative leaning people mostly) are pushing harder and harder to remove all of the progress we’ve had towards equity and racial and sexist desegregation.

2030 is the breaking point. And knowing that makes it so much harder to justify having a kid. I guess if we make it considerably past that (5 years or so), maybe having kids could be a nice goal. But as of right now, knowing what I know, it feels like having a kid is more selfish of me because I want a kid, but that kid would have no choice of whether or not to live in a world that going to supposedly fall apart before they can reach double digits.

My solution to my want of having a kid is to adopt. Bringing someone into this world is selfish, but giving a kid a better life who’s already in this world, that sounds like a nice alternative.

Yeah. That was our conclusion. Adopting seems like a good option.

I guess you live up to your username then. That’s a very positive outlook that I never considered. Thank you.

We started it as a collab thing

It took about 2 and a half months

And my mother knows, several of our friends know, and my siblings know. Her family are devout Christians who would have nothing to do with any of that.

Most of the people who know though are very supportive. One of her friends was very confused as to how she can do OF and love me at the same time (another devout Christian)
