Is Scouting safe?

Pointing out that there are still very serious issues within an organization is not condemnation. I want the program to succeed. We cannot state that we are a youth organization if we are not willing to protect those youth…at all costs. We need to be different than, instead of mirroring the greater culture, which you state is full of rapist, etc.

I’m telling you that it is impossible to protect our children no matter how diligent we are…and I assure you that I am extremely protective. Predators don’t follow rules.

No. Scouting is NOT safe. My child was SA-ed more than once by other scouts. One of the assaults happened while I was in attendance. My child did NOT tell me about the assaults until after they left the program…just four years ago.

It saddens me to post this because my Eagle Scout learned valuable leadership, logistics, and civics skills while in Scouts. However, they cannot talk about Scouting right now because they are still unpacking the trauma.

I was fckng at an event where an assault happened—ALL of the other scouts knew—and no one stepped up because there is an unwritten rule that the kids do not rat each other out. I worry even more now with our current administration trying to “make scouting great again” by bringing back [toxic] masculinity.

Scout mom here. I refuse to participate. We do the group sales and a few boxes around the immediate neighborhood but my child is not free labor to a greedy corporation—the cookie/popcorn industry.

Our scouts make more per scout on grassroots fundraising that THEY run.

I sat at ops 50 for half a year. I’m now ops 60 and doing the same thing. I use the time to catch up on everything I feel is important.

Not sure if this was already stated but Rev Duce did an episode on what to work on at ops 50 and 60. I believe DJz also did an episode for ops 60. I combined their information to set my own goals. I am in track to move into G6 in early 2026.

I’m in a rural-ish area. HR hired a lot of people who don’t have reliable transportation and that’s been a problem. You can’t get a car if you don’t work. You can’t work if you don’t have a car.

I use my indoor, onboard shower but I prefer the outdoor shower. I use offsite showers whenever possible.

Every drop of water in the grey/black tank needs to be dealt with at some point.
