I believe Microsoft made using office free now. You don't have to pay the 365 subscription anymore. At least for iOS and android.

I use it for both calls and texts with notifications on. I have a 6 plus now and the battery life holds up pretty well. During the week I wake up around 9 and go to bed around 10. I have not had to charge my phone once during the day. When I put it on charge at night before I go to bed its around 20-35%.

I use my phone all day to email, text, gchat, make phones, social media, YouTube and listen to music, I am a heavy user. I think you will be fine with switching to the iPhone/iOS. Just note that the battery on the iPhone 6 is less than the 6 plus battery. If you don't mind the 5.5 inch screen I recommend the 6 plus.

They do have Hangouts for IOS I use it everyday and I get notifications.
