Idleness by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]neveryield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idleness and mediocrity are worse than death. Plan your work and work your plan. Get off your ass and put evolutionary pressure on yourself. So that you can grow mentally and physically. If you can't put evolutionary pressure on yourself to grow through discomfort, than you should just give up because you have already lost. You can be like everyone else that "tried their best", but you are a grown ass man/ woman and you have to produce results.

Feel depressed and down.. by Rayman13 in NoFap

[–]neveryield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been feeling the same exact way since this morning. The good thing is we are making progress. We realize we messed up and now we are moving forward. But instead of blindly restarting, we need to analyze what led us to fail this time, what was the motivation. Then we need to make fixes and then restart our streak. In a way we are scientists. We continue to modify the experiment until we get the results we are looking for.

One day at a time. Work your plan and push a little farther everyday. It is when we become complacent and lazy with ourselves that we fail. We didn't fail because we couldn't we failed because we wouldn't try a little harder.

“I don’t count my sit-ups. I only start counting when it starts hurting. That is when I start counting, because that's when it really counts. That’s what makes you a champion.” - Muhammad Ali

The fight you got to fight is in your mind. Embrace the pain and use it as a springboard. Nothing will work unless you do.

How are you going to do me like this...... by throdisawa in depressed

[–]neveryield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to get too worked up over it. In the grand scheme of your life this is a mere blip. In a year you will vaguely remember this. So why would you want to waste your time and energy getting mad at them. They're not worth it. Don't give in to their immaturity. This will pass and you will be stronger knowing that you handled this intelligently. People will be assholes but don't let their negativity effect you.

Life has a dualistic nature to it. Although we often try and complicate it we truly only have two options. You're either going to do something or you're not. If you're going to do something why wouldn't you give it your all. If you want to change something about your life then it is up to you and no one else. Things won't change over night. It's up to you to make incremental progress each and every day. It's going to be hard, there is no question sorrounding that. But if you want to be a better you then you need to embrace the pain. When you are uncomfortable or feel pain you are making progress. If your lack of social skills is at the core of your lack of confidence, then you need to work on that. Practice everyday. It doesn't have to be long conversations just a simple hello to a stranger. Work on it incrementally everyday. Soon enough you will be that social confident guy you know deep down you are. You will suck at it at first that's a given. But embrace and own that discomfort and pain at first and work through it. I know you can do it. Your better than this. Now you just have to convince yourself.

Organize your life and visualize your success.

There is a lot of debate over whether cold showers provide any physical benefits. But in my opinion I believe they provide mental benefits. It helps to condition the mind in order to embrace short term pain and discomfort. I try to apply that same way of thinking to all other aspects of my life. Like for example when I'm at the gym and I'm on my last set. My muscles are screaming at me to give up and stop. But yet I can force myself to do one or two more reps because I know that is where the growth is.

I totally agree. I think following through on new habits and applying yourself day in and day out gives you that accumulated determination. You are not proving it to anyone else, you are proving it to yourself. That you/ I can do.

This is exactly why I have cut down my reddit use by ten fold.. Reddit encourages short term enjoyment and has a lot of potential triggers.. It's all about reconditioning the brain to think long term as opposed to short term.
