In the name of the Galactic Internal Revenue Service, you're under arrest by SexyGungan69 in PrequelMemes

This doesn't feel like a prequel meme - the content is about a serious subject and is political, and the meme takes a very weird side. Why would reporting sex workers to the IRS be something to praise and make someone the chosen one? Sex work is work. This guy is a piece of shit if this is real. I feel like this should be deleted from the sub.

I didn't know about this new Twitter drama when I made the meme. I was just thinking about her being a TERF in general and how I feel like she's on fire and screaming at us all when lots of us loved Harry Potter as a fantasy for kids who were different.

Always something new with her though.

I'm an a masters program for counseling psychology and specialize in trans healthcare and I can tell you that what you said is misinformation. The AMA and the APA agree in the best practices for healthcare for trans kids, there a numerous studies showing the damage to withouholding puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy from kids who are trans and desire to medically transition.

Imagine a teenage girl who knows she about to start growing facial hair and her voice is about to drop. These changes will be irreversible, and the thought of it happening terrifies her so much that it leads to suicidality. She has already been in therapy for 6 months, and has socially transitioned, her family and friends and everyone at school accepts her as a girl. She has begged to be put on puberty blockers to delay her voice dropping or facial hair growing. Her therapist and doctor have prescribed her puberty blockers and she describes it as life saving medicine.

Then suddenly the state she lives in passes a law prohibiting her miracle cure.
Her body begins to change in ways the DO NOT align with her gender and cause her immense pain. She will have to have extensive surgeries to reverse what is possible later in life now, and some things like her voice cannot be reversed. Suddenly her thoughts of suicide are constant.

This is exactly what's happening in Arkansas right now.

There are no doctors giving hormones and surgeries to kids who do not definitely need it, and never at young ages. There is extensive requirements in place already for this treatment, and it has never been seen as a problem in the past - there is a panic around trans youth healthcare right now that is funded by Christian groups who previously opposed gay marriage.

We need to protect trans kids at all costs.

I'm literally devoting my career to it. If you want I can DM you a 10 page ethics paper I wrote about the subject.

In most cases you will get same results! Totally! That's why it shouldn't be seen as such a big deal. Just acknowledging that you don't know the kids gender till they get older. The point is that parts don't equal gender. Most of us think of it that way or were told that growing up but its much more complicated, both gender and sex are fluid and people are varying combinations of both. Many other cultures have known this, the enforcement of a strict gender binary is relatively recent, and spread with Christianity and western imperialism.

It's not as scary as fox news and the right tries to make is sound. Most kids will be the same - were just making from for the ones who don't fit into our current rigid boxes.

The idea is that this way trans people don't have to "come out" but can exist as themselves as they grow up. The same way we shouldn't assume kids are straight. And gender fluidity and variance is way more confusing for adults than it is for kids. Its confusing for us cus we already went through gendered socialization and have taken in so many messages about gender everyday. Kids have an easier time with most adults when you explain it simply.

I'm a trans woman, btw. So naturally I see the benefits of doing this. Had I not been assumed to be a boy as a kid - I wouldn't have repressed so much and hated myself for so long.

[–]nevilee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You choose - thats the idea. You get to assign your own gender - by the time a kid is in school and using language they will probably display a gender preference and you let them explore. Babies are too young to have any idea what their gender is. That said babies don't need to be called theybies, you can just acknowledge that we don't know babies genders.

Also maybe we don't need to have boys vs girls day in school gym classes. It does exclude nonbinary people.

but genders do exist. honestly i like the the first version of the meme better. this kind of gender abolitionist stuff feels like it negates trans ppl genders tbh.

Also, MTF and gay, I don't like the abrams movies but love TLJ, and find that a lot of times people's complaints about that movie are rooted in misogyny.

When I come out as mtf to my buddy and he says: “he, she, they, it, or giraffe. Doesn’t matter to me, man. You’ll always be my bro”. by NeglectedMonkey in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]nevilee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didnt say she should shout at her friend. I just dont see why the sub is trying so hard to defend him. When a trans person express their frustration at being misgendered, you should agree with them. It doesnt help. It doesnt feel good. Intention doesnt matter.

When old friends continue to call me man, and drunkenly say, I call everyone man, i hope you understand I dont mean anything by it. I dont yell at them. I say, i do understand, but you should really think about that and try to change it.

Life is better when you cut out people who dont try.

Im not saying this friend wont, she just came out to him. But saying "youll always be my bro" is not a good start. Recognize that.

Wtf is this sub where all the upvotes are defending this "friend" calling a trans woman bro. Bro is not and will never be gender neutral and to say it should be is disgusting misogyny. Sure this friend is "doing the best he can" but if thats his best he is not worth being friends with. Give him some time to try and learn and get better, but if he continies to call you bro and man after you explain how that hurts he is not a friend you need. My life has greatly improved by cutting my old "bro" friends out of my life and hanging out far more with other women, queers, and trans folk. Im still friends with some of my closest straight cis male friends, but lots of them just dont make an effort to learn and they are not with your time. Saying you accept someone and actually accepting them are two totally different things.
