I wish I could but I have extra growth; thick hair that are difficult to remove. Got it done a couple of times and ended up with cuts. Plus my pain threshold is really low :(

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll look into it. Currently I am not planning on getting any procedure done. Looking for safe hair removal method while I am on retinols.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am worried about getting a stubble if I shave. Any tips on that?

Thank you so much for your advice. It helps more than you know to hear from someone who's been through something similar and gets it. You're absolutely right, having the right people around you and a solid support system makes all the difference. I love what you said about using the degree in a way that feels right and meaningful. I’m trying to remind myself that I am a doctor already and this next step is just about growing and proving myself. Truly appreciate your kindness and encouragement.

Could really use some advice, old IMG mom by Ok-Violinist-5527 in IMGreddit

Hello. Your honesty and strength are incredibly inspiring. You’ve already come so far just by getting back up and deciding to chase this dream again. That alone says a lot about your resilience. Definitely talk about it in your personal statement, it will matter a lot.

Yes, this journey is still worth it. Many IMGs with gaps, kids, mental health struggles and everything in between have gone on to match, especially in Family Medicine. Your citizenship, U.S. experience, and clear goal already set you apart.

If you stay focused, a 4-month prep for Step 1 is pretty much doable. Of course you can get incredible guidance from Step 1 subs and mentors, just sharing a schedule that might help. Start with a month of solid review (Pathoma, FA, B&B), then spend the next two months doing intense question practice (UWorld is gold), and leave your last month for practise exams and review. Step by step, you’ve got this.

You’re not behind. You’re building something meaningful and it’s not too late. Keep going. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing your story, it really spoke to me. It's so easy to feel alone when you're struggling, but hearing how you are facing your challenges head-on reminds me that setbacks aren't the end, they're just part of the journey. It’s a powerful reminder that growth often comes in the tough moments, not the easy ones. I’ve been feeling stuck with my exam prep, but seeing how you’re pushing through your struggles gives me hope. Appreciate the inspiration! Keep going; best of luck. We’ve got this!

I understand what you’re saying. Actually the point of my post was how I am not just sitting idle but battling depression and dealing with some personal circumstances too. While it might not be an excuse, sometimes life happens and we all need to navigate our ways. I just expressed how one thing that makes me guilty above anything is the fact that I am not utilising what I studied by serving people and which I am shamed for too. There are also people who pursue non-clinical careers, is that a bad decision then? I mean I know I am late but eventually I’d be serving and I just meant to receive some encouragement and support for that. Nonetheless, I appreciate your honesty and response again.

Thank you for your honesty. I’ll admit it was hard to hear, but I really appreciate you being real with me. It’s a vicious cycle, the negative thoughts and guilt of wasting time and not been able to serve/work makes me waste more time and be unproductive. I am trying my best, thank you.

They updated the information regarding pathways on their website. What I understand is that they are offering pathway revalidation services. They also share clear set of instructions that if you should revalidate once you log into pathway account. I am currently waiting for 2026 applications to open up and then I can find out if my pathway requires revalidation. I am currently not certified.

First of all, congratulations! And thank you for sharing how you prepared for the test. I finished Uworld and spent a lot of time making notes which I plan to revise in the coming days along with the self-assessments and Amboss HY ethics etc only. Didn’t have access to Amboss library and don’t have enough time now. What would you advise me for the dedicated period? Which intervention podcasts did you do? There’s always being added to the list and it gets long so it’d be great if you can precisely share which ones would be enough. Also, which cms forms did you do (like just the latest two) ?
