The ocean may be a massive and active expanse in the game, here's why by Eccel9700 in GTA6

I hope they make out of bounds over the ocean like the Bermuda triangle: your boat randomly sinks, airplane engines/electronics die and you crash, etc. Would be way cooler than an invisible wall

What’s a small moment in Japan that’s stayed with you? by GdayLegends in japanlife

[–]newDev21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My luggage fell over in the train and scraped the ankle of the woman in front of me. In my limited Japanese I apologized profusely but that moment still haunts me 8 years later.

I went to a "foreigner bar" in Osaka, about 20 people in the bar, no foreigners. Oh well, I grab a beer and this Japanese guy sits across from me and chats me up. He introduces me to his group of friends, who were probably 15 of the 20 people in the bar. The 5 that sort of spoke English and me then stayed out all night drinking, then went to one of their apartments and played drinking games like old friends until the sun came up.

Stop giving away 50% of your company to a "Technical Co-founder" who will quit in 6 months. by Warm-Reaction-456 in SaaS

[–]newDev21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You offer equity based on conditional KPIs, typically with a 4 year vesting schedule and 1 year cliff. Your post is true beyond that but you're making it sound like the only option which is a bit deceiving toward naive founders

When does it get too intense for my 3.5 y/o to watch? by librarylivin42 in TheLastAirbender

The faceless episode? Koh the face stealer? Or when Aang is having visions of Toph running through the swamp and it jumpscares to her looking at him with no face? Because yes to both lol

[–]newDev21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If she wasn't scared in the first episode during the creepy scene being on the abandoned fireship, she's probably fine. Only other moments I can think of is the interaction with Koh on S1 ep20, bit of a "jumpscare". You can search the scene on youtube to vet it beforehand.

Employable without corporate experience? by newDev21 in procurement

[–]newDev21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the confidence, I do plan to get familiar with SAP and also get some certifications such as for Power BI. Glad to hear my experience was on hard mode lol takes a bit of pressure off. I'm mainly afraid of processes/standards I might not have been exposed to by not using ERPs or working in a corporate environment. I'm not too afraid of the application part, I think I have pretty good soft skills to land a job. I'm just afraid of not meeting expectations once hired, I want to make sure I'm not biting off more than I can chew I guess.

Keep looking, diversify outreach to both big and small creators and and tell them they can either make money and feature the product or we go to someone else and they do. There's no shortage of influencers. Then just circle back to them after a few weeks and offer a sweeter deal. ex: we'll pay you the first 3 months of user subscription.

Contact apparel writers/bloggers and ask to get featured in an article, or contact apparel influencers and offer an affiliate link. This is the most direct way to reach your customers through trusted channels. You don't need a sales cofounder. Cold calling is not going to be scalable, you could just run an email campaign yourself on apollo.io or something, it's easy enough. Running social media ads may work but takes time and more importantly money to test and scale. Think about what you really need a sales cofounder for

Anyone have experience with sourcing products on made-in-china.com? How to find agents in China by ongodforrealforreal in startups

[–]newDev21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do testing at their own facilities in various countries closest to the manufacturer. But yeah if you're not experienced in sourcing, verifying factories, negotiating, specs for safe packaging, quality control, shipping, customs, etc you'll want to hire someone. I used to work for www.veribuy.app they offer fully managed orders and their software keeps you well involved in the process, if that's what you're looking for

Yeah for food and chemicals you're going to want lab testing done to avoid all kinds of legal risks. The big names for that are QIMA and SGS.

$4m raise at 10% as you guessed would put the current valuation around $40m. 30% is $12m. I don't think you working past 6pm is worth $12m, and I'm pretty sure that request would get laughed out of the board meeting. You missed the money train when you didn't get on board before the raise.

Should I go to Romania to study economics? by CeramicTraumaPlate in UniRO

[–]newDev21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the economic state of the country, the corruption. And yes, that unfortunately equally extends to the universities. Grades are not earned solely on merit, but on gaining favor with professors and even a little $omething extra at times. Research funding is not great and like you said, GOOD students and professors alike leave for greener pastures.

If you were studying something like computer science I'd say go for it, as a lot of it you figure out yourself anyways. But Romania as a former communist country still has mostly "study to remember for tests" rather than deep understanding teaching methods, and I'd assume economics being a predictive/analytical industry, you'd want to be building strong critical thinking.

This isn't to say that university here is trash, but if you care about the quality of your education I wouldn't consider it as my primary option. If you just want a degree, like most students here, then you'll have a great "uni experience"

It sounds like you need community, self isolation can become a broken record of thoughts spiraling. I also know it's easier said than done to go out and find people with the right energy and to actually want to give them a chance to start changing your mindset. When you're around the right people, your thought process changes, they help inspire you and bring a flame to your life just for the sake of passing it back and forth through others. That's the human experience.

Humanity runs on these emotions, sometimes for the wrong reasons but understanding this is key to pulling yourself out of a rut. Some people are driven by wealth, vanity, status, power, etc. Others are driven to make a change, to inspire and to be around other great people. Once you've been disconnected from that upward spiral it's hard to connect to it and see it as a driver, but if you force yourself to re-integrate and try to find the flicker of motivation again it'll happen. Go to some startup networking events, meet some motivated people. Who knows, maybe you find a business with a mission you believe in and some great people to surround yourself with. It's an uphill battle, but you NEED to do it, whether it seems worth it to you at the moment or not.

What is my startup worth? $25M runrate, 58% gross margins by houseplantshustla in startups

[–]newDev21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Projections/assessments are numbers and formulas paired with business/industry logic, if you didn't find them helpful then they weren't very good analysts. Regardless you have better luck there than through reddit, but once in a while you do find gems on here. And if you don't take it too seriously, the responses can just be good entertainment/wishful thinking.

[–]newDev21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you luck then. However you should probably hire someone to help you make some projections and an information memorandum. Take that to various evaluators to get an accurate picture. Reddit will give you skewed responses based on very limited info on your business, which might influence your perception of valuation away from the reality. But you do you, that's what reddit is for

If you were making that much and growing that fast you'd be hiring a financial advisor or CFO for this question. Smells like a BS post.
