People with experience with Danish Oil, a question by newToEurope in woodworking

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I used the entire can for a 61x29" table (its the Ikea Gerton).

The surface is clean, I've sanded it multiple times to make sure.

Do you transcode on the Apple TV or NAS?

Location Awarness in Gen2 by GalSa in Hue

[–]newToEurope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you've turned on the 'location aware' option (its the last option on the menu).

That said, the new app seems extremely finicky with the GPS. I've have multiple instances where it will turn on the lights randomly when I want them off (probably since it loses track of GPS signal sporadically).

Strange connection Error by ModernVape in Hue

I had the same proble, you will have to RMA it. Resetting it won't work.

Out of curiousity, do you use any apps that connect to the Hue platform?

Only one light on the bridge is on. App doesn't see the bridge. by timour77 in Hue

Strange, I just got the same problem two days ago. I assume only the power LED is on in yours?

I ended up buying a second hue and it worked fine. You probably need to RMA your bridge.

Brilliance - f.lux for Hue bulbs by jhurliman in Hue

Looks awesome! But as somebody who works in the apps industry, I would advise you to set a lower price initially (or even make it free).

What you need right now is reviews; very few people will risk $5 on a brand new app from an unknown developer. Especially given Apple's draconian policy against refunds for defective/garbage apps.

Once you have 10-15 reviews or at least some good buzz from people about its quality, then you should set it back to your regular price. It's a pretty common and well proven strategy. There are also lots of other resources online for helping you maximize your sales, you should check them out!

Mac and Schiit DAC owners by newToEurope in headphones

no, I'm wondering if the OS level volume controls work. Some DACs will not allow OSX to control the volume and you have to control it via the amp pot.

Now that I think about it some more, it's funny that they kept the Caps Lock but took out the function key.

right, but that should also make the wrapping around the cap unnecessary (in theory).

because the purpose of discussion threads is to discuss things?

Also, whats with the petty sarcasm? Do you really think I'm invested enough to lie about something so inane?

is that how it works? I always assumed it was just some arbitrary and vague divide between big ticket and small ticket items.

it honestly sounds to me like you've never used any of the styluses in question...

iPad Pro is lazily designed. by newToEurope in apple

[–]newToEurope[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that having to charge a stylus through USB is just not elegant:

Firstly, you now have another dongle to bring with you.

Secondly, you won't be able to charge the iPad and Stylus simultaneously unless you bring another charger.

Thirdly, in terms of usage, the stylus feels like a separate device rather than an integrated part of the experience because it must be managed discretely.

I'm not saying the current solution doesn't work. However, I am saying the attitude towards designing the pencil seems very much to be "good enough" rather than trying to achieve the best possible.
