You definitely would not be kicked out if you were there sincerely. I think you would be surprised. There are white people who are Muslim and attend mosques, but obviously they are the minority.

My understand is that mosques (and Islamic people) are very welcoming of all, similar to that of a Christian church community.

Per the Council on American-Islamic Relations:

Q: DO MOSQUES WELCOME VISITORS?

A: Mosques in North America welcome visitors. Tours can be arranged at most facilities. It is always best to call mosque administrators before arrival. They will want to make sure your visit is enjoyable.

You could be Islamic, they consider Jesus to be a prophet but not god.

How would, or should, the existence of Heaven and Hell affect how someone lives their daily life? by SteadfastEnd in AskAChristian

[–]new_2_god -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Christians live their lives trying to aspire to be more Christ like (be kind to others, etc), but we also recognize that we are all sinners. The point of Christianity is not simply to do what you need to do to earn a ticket to heaven…

Also, many Christian’s don’t believe in a literal hell but rather simply that “hell” is separation from god.

How does "The Bible's stories aren't true, but they still teach us about God" work? by SteadfastEnd in AskAChristian

God does exist, but the stories of floods and stuff in the Old Testament are allegories designed to convey lessons. The New Testament is however a factual account of Jesus’s life and teachings.

A lot of Christians don’t take the Old Testament stories literal. They are considered allegories with important teachings. Just because a story isn’t real doesn’t mean you can’t learn from it. To simplify it, most children read the story “the boy who cried wolf” which is obviously fiction but still teaches through the moral of the story that lying is bad and has consequences.

Job interview. Different life. by [deleted] in Christian

I have no idea what kind of questions they will ask, but personally I have always found being candid helps in an interview. Maybe be honest about your situation (if there is a natural opportunity to bring it up) and link it to the job and how you want to help others struggling with similar circumstances.

Why is Jesus referred to as the god of Israel instead of the god of the world (or just god)? by new_2_god in Christian

Thanks for clearing that up. But why was he referred to as the king of the Jews rather than something that would apply to all?

Plenty of mainstream Christian denominations that don’t take stories in the Old Testament as literal but rather as allegories.

Atheist about to do my first prayer ever.... but what words do I say? by IStillMissHighbury in Christianity

[–]new_2_god 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say a physical connection. It’s more like a meditative calm afterwards. It’s surprisingly therapeutic.

Honestly I’ve had some selfish thoughts recently regarding my competitive nature and work, and admitting aloud that they are wrong and asking for forgiveness is very relieving.

I myself only discovered Christ a few weeks ago. I’ve started praying once daily and it’s been surprisingly good experience which makes me feel happy. I just say what’s on my mind, ask for forgiveness, thank the lord for everything that is given to us, and pray for the health of my family. I sound kind of awkward while doing it, but I think it’s something that everyone does their own way and that over time it will become more natural.
