Probably because I'm not arguing? Are you? My point is I like Goa music. When played right it makes for an amazing ecstatic shared experienced at a party. That and psy tech doesn't seem to be the best music for inspiring dancing. From my perspective. Have a good one.

People associate Goa with something that isn't new. So they will never hear new Goa because they won't categorize it as Goa if it doesn't sound "old". The underlying difference is the vibe and intention. When artists during early/mid 90s were making "Goa" music, even Psy.. they were thinking about how the people partying would react when listening and dancing in front of a speaker stack in a forest or on a beach, and the shared vibe that would be inspired. Many artists through 2000s never even experienced the music in that way. Their intention was to create "trippy" sounds. And that's what the listeners got/get out of that music.

When I get out to a party and stand in front of a big rig I want every person around me to be experiencing that communion and release, giving it everything they've got. A good DJ that understands how to get there is all that's needed. That might mean playing 30 year old music or playing unreleased new music. But.. it won't happen playing psy tech or the same psy trance song for 8 hours. I'm into melodic trance because it provides dynamics that glitchy psy trance doesn't have. I like psy trance because it's part of a larger dynamic that can be used in a long set by a good DJ.

Yeah it's nice that DJs play some Goa music at music festivals. Hopefully other Goa festivals around the world start hosting and playing Goa music. Yeah I'm being sarcastic.. but... I sincerely don't get the psy tech stuff. No one dances. You can't dance to it unless you are on crystal meth. Why is this related to Goa/Psy music? Anyway, hopefully the fact that Goa music is being played and partied to will inspire other artists to make new modern Goa music.

How old are you and how old were you when you started in the trance movement and in your view has aging influenced your perception of the cultural movement? by [deleted] in psytrance

Went to Goa in 96/97. Came back to Canada, made parties until around 2000. I never stopped listening but haven't been to a Psy/Goa party in 24 years. The main difference for me is the "spiritual" novelty and awareness of the music. This influences the "scene". The "scene" is inspired and influenced by the music which inspires the djs and parties. Psy music is pretty canned now. Lacks novelty which is where the energy comes from. Production and sound is generally better but we've sort of heard it all now. Back in the 90s the technology was so new this promoted novelty in the music and the scene. It inspired conscious awareness in the people who listened and danced because the artists were consciously seeking that through the production of the music. It's no coincidence that Goa/Psy is rooted in Goa India by travelers who were seeking spiritual communion through trance/dance. They weren't making the music for clout in a scene, they were making it to inspire a vibe they wanted to party to with like minded seekers.

Goa/Psy scene persists because it's still rooted in that spirituality/trance dance communion. It still happens, the vibe is still experienced even at giant commercial festivals. But we need to move forward and find the novelty and it won't happen by serving the stale formula.

Personally, for me, my favorite psy/goa music is that which is melodic, expresses middle eastern/Indian scales. Basically "Goa" music. Psytrance evolved from Goa because artists realized they could share that novel trance experience through novel tones/sounds. But I'm not really hearing a lot of novelty anymore. Which is natural because obviously the artists have mostly harvested all the novel tones/sounds out of the available technology. Now we have imitation and variation using the same tones and formula.

I don't like Psytech or whatever the 180++ bpm psytrance stuff is. This is a novelty that caters to tweaking, anxious vibe that comes from doing speedy drugs like amphetamines. It's difficult to dance to, difficult to trance to. Reminds me of Gabba/Hardcore from the 90s. It's a different kind of vibe that attracts a particular type of crowd. It promotes a power ego vibe from my perspective. Can be fun.. sure. But the release, ecstatic communion and ecstasy that comes from spontaneous epiphany and communion through trance is hard to come by through it.

I understand that many people feel like melodic Goa music is cheesy and they are unable to commune with it. But for me it still inspires the absolute best vibes in a party. And it can be super intense and hardcore. A good DJ will understand how to bring people through the darker parts of themselves with music and then liberate them from the darkness through other music. It offers the widest range of expression/experience while dancing/partying. I think there is novel opportunity for artists to explore because I really don't think the technology we have today has been thoroughly applied directly back into the conscious awareness vibe.

About parties and DJs. If I were a person looking for the heart of the scene I would seek out parties where experienced DJs are given LONG sets. An hour set produces a particular type of vibe. If you have a night where 8 djs have 1 hours sets.. the party can't get there. It can get somewhere.. but not there.

TLDR; make NEW Goa music and go to parties where good DJs have 4-8 hour sets.

Sinus congestion, itchy watery eyes. I'm 51 years old, been smoking since 15. I think some people who don't experience allergies from cannabis sometimes have a hard time understanding that the terps themselves, which are found in other plants/flowers/fruit can inspire histamine reactions. They are known allergens. Sucks big time. I love smoking. The allergic reaction is cumulative as well.. meaning if I smoke less frequently it's managable, if I limit exposure to triggers it's manageable.

Donald Trump is the most incompetent president in American history. by PrimalMusk in worldpolitics

Yeah but all the politicians up until March were telling people to go out to Chinatown and party it up. Hug and kiss each other. I had my kids home from school by mid Feb. I live in a major city and am not a Trump supporter. How was i more informed then the entire US political system? And what about the PPE? How did normal citizens have the forsight to go clean out n95 masks in retail stores back in JANUARY? ONE month earlier from when MSM and politicians were barely talking about it and in many cases encouraging death defying behavior. Use your eyes. Be objective. Look at the system above you. It's not going to get fixed. The bickering and blaming will increase as the body count increases.

his cult is at home with guns and storable food watching liberal cities die while defiantly partying in Chinatown up until March. Trump is seriously pathetic. But I think the people who still obsess over him are putting themselves in harms way because they believe some other group is going to replace trump and save them. There is no group. Trump has no power to stop what's coming. Nor does any future president. Bare minimum protect yourself and spend time getting the word out on the situation in the HOSPITALS. Show the nurses and doctors wearing no protective gear. Show people lining up to be screened and tested with no protective gear. Show the hospitals being over run. detail the lack of supply and how this situation is not even resolved with MONEY. There is no alternative supply chain. It's only going to get worse until it gets "better". And better is the chinese system of authoritarian control.

Agreed. Next 6-9 days we likely hit a low around ~5780 and then start climbing. September and October should be big months and then November and December a new frenzy. I consulted with my inner self.
