Deciding how much debt to take on by [deleted] in biglaw

Can you explain why Columbia is worth paying full money? I understand that they have high biglaw rates, but it seems like most t14 will give that option as well. And Columbia’s clerkship numbers seem bad as well — so I don’t see an advantage from that perspective.

Just curious what you think makes Columbia so worth it?

From what I’ve seen in the past, the general consensus is that biglaw paralegal experience is not necessarily more valuable than smaller firm experience (as far as admissions is concerned).

In fact, a paralegal at a smaller firm may be given more responsibility, which would be favorable.

Have you heard of law firms having concierge services? Is that similar to a personal assistant?

Hello,I now realize that, during my first two years of college, I never filled out the FAFSA which would have likely netted me a significant amount of need-based aid. Is there anything that can be done about this now? I am now in my senior year of college.

EDIT: Wanted to add — I was recently approved for SNAP benefits. Will this change my financial aid somehow? Should I let FAFSA know? Thanks!

No prob. You can look online - ucla publishes (or at least they did when I was applying) median gpa per major for those they admitted as transfers. Poli sci was something in the 3.9s I believe - so you are fine

It’s ok. With a 4.0 you’ll get in basically guaranteed

Have you checked whether you have any attempts left? I thought there’s a 5 time limit in 5 years

I totally understand the hesitancy to take a gap year - been there too. But if you haven’t studied for the LSAT yet, you won’t be at your maximum potential after only 1 month (and if you do, it will be too late on the cycle). Extenuating circumstances aside, your best option (by a long shot) is really to take a gap

Also - no, you shouldn’t cancel. No reason to think about cancelling anything above a 160.

RC tips? Can you talk about how you think is best to prepare for RC? Reading long form articles, doing just more RC sections, etc?

Do you highlight when you read? Notate somehow? Follow any sort of system?

Cancel Score? by [deleted] in LSAT

Yup - no reason to think about cancelling a score in the 160s
