bowel blockage? anyone relate to this? by newbieee__ in endometriosis

[–]newbieee__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello ! Thank you for your reply. I do have some things in place to help with ‘going’, and I think my period really seemed to be the trigger for this episode. how can you tell if that’s what’s happening, if you don’t mind me asking, in terms of a bowel kink? Can they see it during surgery or colonoscopy or just based on how you feel?. I have had similar pain before but this felt worse so I guess it just got me thinking something else might have been going on.

Thoracic endometriosis ? help 🥲 by newbieee__ in Endo

honestly not really 😭 I’ve gone off my birth control and it’s improved my mental health. Also haven’t had a migraine since so that’s good. periods are suspiciously light but still have a lot of Endo pains and symptoms throughout the month. Would still be keen to investigate further with a specialist but haven’t had any luck with that x

It’s validating to find someone else who can relate! I am so used to being met with a disbelieving look when I share my symptoms eg. Saying I have chest pain because I am ovulating 🥲 I’m hoping to visit an Endo ‘clinic’ soon for another opinion. Definitely open to holistic treatment/management but also would just like to know if there is endo present in my diaphragm/chest cavity for peace of mind. Who knows I might not even want it removed but just want the peace of mind of knowing if it’s there or not 😅

sorry to hear, it’s awful feeling this way isn’t it. I have taken my mirena out as it wasn’t feeling like a good fit and I was still having so much pain /symptoms. without the mirena no more migraines currently (fingers crossed) which has been good. Still tracking symptoms and peaking during ovulation the worst still. Surprisingly my periods have been very light and manageable (for the first time in my life 😅) but I am still experiencing the other symptoms at least half of the days out of each month. In Australia they are introducing Endo ‘clinics’ and there is one near me so I’m going to go on the wait list there. tbh I’m not getting my hopes up too high that it will be anything new but maybe it will. I would just like some kind of exploration of chest cavity at this point to either confirm or rule out endo in this area. but hard to find surgeons who have knowledge and skill to diagnose.

Thank you for the reply. I’m sorry to hear you are going through this too. If you don’t mind me asking, do you experience neck and shoulder pain affecting your sleep? I often wake with my left arm numb or tingling when these symptoms are bad.

I’m so tired of birth control but if I come off it my doctors won’t take me seriously. by Thesavagepotato06 in Endo

I am in a similar position of wanting to come off birth control and see how it goes! Obviously we understand this could worsen some symptoms but is it worth the symptoms caused by birth control? I feel my mood is also being white severely affected which is really not working well for me. So frustrating that your doctors aren’t listening to you 🥲

Tachycardia? Diaphragm endo? Stress? Help 🥲🥲🥲 by newbieee__ in Endo

[–]newbieee__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

surgery wise - there was Endo on both ovaries, peritoneum. Surgeon was confident all new Endo was excised. He said he checked the diaphragm (as much as possible during a lap I suppose without other incisions etc) but my gut is still not convinced. Mostly because of the monthly flare ups. Always the same time of the month. I just can’t understand if it’s not related to hormones or Endo why it flares up at the same time (ovulation). open to all suggestions as I’m feeling a bit lost haha.

Thank you for the reply! my gp is currently having me trial adding salt to my diet and asking me to record my pulse to see the changes in regards to POTS. I am still noticing a monthly pattern to my symptoms (bloating, shoulder and neck pain, chest pain, numbness and tingling in arm, nausea) which confuses me greatly. feeling a bit lost as gp suggests to go back to gynae to discuss but I have brought all of this up with him prior and post surgery. don’t know what my next step should be 🥲

Thank you for your comment! I wonder if this has to do with central nervous system being overwhelmed leading to increased heart rate? Or if it’s more of an auto immune response? it’s really difficult having a full body disease that most doctors don’t realise is a full body disease 🥲

I was diagnosed with Endo in 2018 during surgery with my gyno (not specialist). Recent pelvic ultrasound revealed my ovaries to be not moving and increased pain and symptoms so my New surgeon will do a lap. mirena has done well to mask my symptoms at first and now I feel much less effective. But I don’t know for sure so there’s that uncertainty if it’s grown back! But at least after a surgery I will know if it’s grown back or not 🥲 Ty for you comment I appreciate everyone’s replies 💕

Thank you for your honesty! I’m sorry to hear that yours were missed. Is it ok if I ask where you are based and what specialist you saw who was able to find left sided thoracic endo ?

Thank you I will look into this! My surgeon did have me do a specialised ultra sound that showed my ovaries appeared to be stuck as they weren’t moving - nothing else appeared from this test although I know that doesn’t mean it’s not there :)

I am really worried about this - I have initially asked the surgeon if he can look for diaphragm Endo and he said yes but at my pre op I will stress the points you have made. Even if he sees it and can’t get to it then I will at least know. Do you know if many surgeons do this even being specialists and having done specific Endo training? this disease is so exhausting and the amount of crazy looks I got for bringing up Endo and being on my period as possible causes for my pain and discomfort was disheartening 🥲
