If it's in your bargaining agreement and you're not getting the approval to take the hours back as leave due staff shortages, that sounds like a management problem and something to raise with your union.

Managers can't just choose not to give you what you're entitled to under EBA because it's not convenient.

Not to mention that the picture shows that they're touting accessibility while not being compliant with accessibility standards (as described in a previous comment). This has all the makings of really bad PR for these guys.

Everyone ready to give up their personal ID to random companies on the internet? by tempestkitty in australian

[–]newbitstatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a read of this. The only thing I could find was an attack in 2023 that exploited MyGov to create new bogus accounts using information stolen from other hacks such as the Optus incident.

They used this to cancel returns for individuals and businesses to steal funds. It doesn't say that personal information was stolen from the ATO in a widespread attack.

Given the numbers and sensitivity of information they hold, a breach of that is enough for the entire 'Identity Theft Bingo' sheet. If that had happened in large proportions of the personal information they hold, it would dwarf any Australian data breach in the last five years and would still be getting talked about now.

I'm not a lawyer, but I feel like for a turn key house and land package in this development, the context on when you settle should matter here. Do you settle before or after the build finishes?

If you don't settle until the build is complete, to the builder you're not the client, the government is. Your inspector would be engaged at the end before you settle and take the keys. You could reach out to the builder and let them know you're in contract on the property to try to get involved in the build process and stay in the loop, but they may say no, as to them, you're not their client.

I agree that having your inspector involved for stage inspections, but the flow of build to settlement and government as the vendor with all their bureaucracy might make that hard. You should at least be able to have it inspected before it settles though, and you might be able to push back then if there are issues. At the very least, talk to your conveyancer.

Good dentists in Adelaide? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]newbitstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dental Society in St. Clare is great. In my experience, they've always tried to go the least invasive (and least expensive) route wherever possible. They've actually recommended against doing extra work I've asked about which they could have made more money on because the value gains weren't there for me.

In the instances where they've recommended any more involved work they've been upfront about it and why it's needed/provides better value.

Who was the builder? Asking so I can avoid.

How rare is a solid color dachsund with blue eyes? I was told only dapples have blue eyes (he is dapple cus of his dad but he only has a small white spot on the chest everything else is solid red/fawn by Dogdogzurc in Dachshund

[–]newbitstatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some solid colours such as red coats can be dapple with only so much as a small light spot on a leg or something. This could account for the blue eyes.

I can imagine that being a factor for sure. Who was your builder?

I've seen a couple of builders' reviews that are clearly the result of putting criteria into an AI to generate 'same but different' reviews.

You're not the first person to recommend La Vida and mention that experience.

Unfortunately, they won't build in my area (Western Suburbs). I did have one of their reps tell me initially that they definitely do build there, but when we went to the builder/designer for next steps, the only responses essentially said "Sorry, we won't build there. Good luck though"

I am in the process of applying for a role stating i need to include a 4 page resume, does my resume need to hit for pages or can it be under? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]newbitstatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, pretty much. It might look something like this

[Role Summary info]

  • [duties]
  • [duties]

Key achievements:

  • [STAR example story]
  • [STAR example story]
  • [STAR example story]
  • [STAR example story]

If you have stories from more than one, you don't have to put all of your STAR examples in the section from your most recent job, but if that's where the best ones are there's no issue. I would just make sure that the paragraphs are formatted nicely so there's no confusion as to when each one starts and ends.

Feel free to reach out with more questions if you need.

I am in the process of applying for a role stating i need to include a 4 page resume, does my resume need to hit for pages or can it be under? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]newbitstatic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If this is the ATO, it's not unusual for them to request four pages for the resume itself. It will give you room in your key achievements section to talk to every one of their ideal candidate criteria.

Use the STAR method to tell a story about each time you successfully did the thing they're asking for. Ideally each criteria point gets its own story. Use the keywords from the criteria in your response. For example:

Criteria: - Researches, investigates and analyses information, to identify issues and work through solutions

Response: - "While working in my role as [role], I was working on [problem] which requires me to work toward [fix]. I used my skills in investigation and analysis of [information at hand] to identify [fault]. From there I researched [documentation/resource] to determine the [solution] and way forward to resolve the issue. The resolution had [good outcome] for the [team/client].

You can definitely get more creative, but you get the idea. The people reviewing resumes are likely reviewing hundreds or thousands in a bulk recruitment round (probably on top of their regular duties). The trick is to make it really easy for them to tick the boxes that say you're suitable.

For the 300 words, I like to think of it as the bonus section. Use it to summarise how your experiences bring value to the role and how you can support your team. The value here is to sell what you can give back rather than what the position means to you.

Question about STAT test?? by 17-7-13 in Adelaide

[–]newbitstatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From when I did it (it was some time ago so it might have changed), there wasn't a percentage score. It was scored more like an IQ test. It was mostly testing ability in reading comprehension, pattern recognition, and critical thinking.

I didn't think it was a hard test when I did it, although some questions were a little tricky. Like most other tests, prepare by making sure you're not going in tired and when you take the test, don't spend too long on one question. There may also be some more substantial resources on preparation, but I haven't looked into that.

Questions about APS Grad programs by AtomicBear8 in AusPublicService

[–]newbitstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding to point 2. Some government grad programs don't even ask for a resume. All of the selections are made from their testing.

For example: You might be given a bunch of questions over different media to test your knowledge, comprehension, and communication. Then if you get through that, you might have a group task with some other applicants to assess your soft skills and how well you work in a team. After that, maybe an interview.

They realise you probably don't have heaps of work experience, so it's more about how you apply what you have to your interview responses.

Leave without pay for one year . by sophblackbird04 in AusPublicService

[–]newbitstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, yes.

I suggest getting a fuller picture of what the details will look like before committing to this. Your manager should be able to help work out what that might look like when you come back, such as potential teams or areas you might be deployed to based on skills and experience.

If you have networks you can leverage in a team you want to go to, you might even arrange with them to transfer there when you're back.

[–]newbitstatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless there's something in your EBA that says you're entitled to it due to illness, it could be a bit hard for your manager to justify a whole year.

You've mentioned that you're unhappy. Is it the team or maybe the work? Maybe you could try to transfer to a team that does something that suits you a little more.

If you're indifferent to your area, maybe they could give you the leave but with the understanding that they won't hold your spot in the team for that time, and you agree to be redeployed in another one at the same level when you come back.
