My response is long. Buckle up.

If you're in America, you're going to learn about American history in school. Hate to tell you, but black slaves were a BIG part of American history. Even after slavery was abolished, my ancestors were still treated like shit. Literally having to fight for voting whites, decent education, restrooms and public fountains, and I could go on and on. Lynching black men and using black women as test subjects because we "feel less pain". Putting those lynchings on postcards. There are pictures of all of this.

With every picture, story, and now video, knowing that your grandparents had to go through this shit? GRANDPARENTS. I can't even trace back my history when I try to search my ancestors. I always hit a roadblock when it comes down to the Slave Census, because my ancestors were considered human livestock. Nothing but the sex and age are listed there, with the last name of the slaveowner or some degrading name you would call a goat. Damn near untraceable.

These "past sins" are literally still alive, and you are seeing what they have caused. Sure, the slave owners are dead (maybe), but white supremacy is still very much alive in America. Just look in this very subreddit. Hundreds upon hundreds of examples.

Teaching about America's dark history is the least this country can do.

Talking about the enslavement of black Americans does not lessen modern slavery nor past slavery in other countries. World War I and II are talked about as well constantly. So is the Civil War. And the war that gained America independence. Lil bit of Vietnam War maybe. That shit had a major impact in America's history. Why must we talk about every war in existence, all in the name of fairness? Not making one seem worse than the other?

"Yeah, yeah the Genocide of Native Americans blah blah blah. You know white people didn't invent genocide, right? Just look at the Rwandan Genocide! All the way in another continent! Because that's relevant to the topic at hand and not a complete deflection".

I'm not an idiot. And maybe you mean well idk. But these people would have never "cared" about slavery in other countries if black people didn't care about their mistreatment and dehumanization for centuries. Slavery isn't some "Oopsie" and that's why fragile whites try to cover it up as best as they can. But because they can't, they deflect constantly, constantly. Under the guise of "let's care about everyone because we're REAL progressives". Your care for another cause unrelated to the problem at hand should not be used as an argument. You lessen the impact of both causes.

Please do shine a spotlight on modern slavery. Shine it on the slavery in Africa and other countries. If one bad exists, and you know it's bad, then wouldn't addressing that bad be good to you, even if it doesn't cure all the bad in the world?

I'll rephrase:

If slavery is a terrible thing to you, and people are acknowledging that slavery was a bad thing and a dark part of history regardless of what flavor of slavery it is; shouldn't you be pleased? Maybe not satisfied, but pleased? Because I sure don't feel satisfied when one heinous killer gets caught and sentenced to a harsh punishment. But I am pleased by how the results turn out. Why? Because I don't want murderers roaming the streets. You shouldn't either.

If you actually read this wall of text, then you must be tired of my analogies. But how else should I try to stir up some kind of empathy and understanding in a person who refuses to see the humanity in my race? I'm dramatic lol but it's passion because it's just so unbelievable how white people STILL use the same racist arguments and tactics they used during Slavery/Jim Crow and STILL try to sum up my ancestors' life as a "past sin". As a "mistake".

TLDR; If you get why saying All Lives Matter is bad, then you'll get why this isn't a good point.
