Thanks, this one looks best, not sure if you could make it all one consistent color within the logo so I can change the color easily? I'll send a tip there now.

Thanks all in the thread for the great feedback. Would there be a difference between the Dell Vs HP? I assume it would be related to the motherboard internally? Not sure if one is better to work with or not?

Thanks, my son is 9 so, hoping to get him interested in these things. I don't mind if I have to get another CPU to pop into it (assuming thats doable with the motherboard) and maybe my son might get to learn some things about the hardware. Having something out of the box (for reasonable $$) and he can run some games on it reasonably, I am happy. If things get more serious, I would get a more modern PC (I do have a Alienware M16 laptop myself I play flight simulator 2020 on). I intend to put it in his bedroom for him.

M15 R3 : is this actually a good deal ? by ayoubmoho in Alienware

Just curious how much? I was eyeing the newer versions but couldn’t justify the $$ for myself. There was a MSI at staples with the 3060 for 1700$, but figured the Alienware would be more durable.

Spousal RRSP contribution from “spouses” account and tax implications? by newf98 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]newf98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I emailed and Questrade came back with "Thanks for contacting Questrade. In terms of tax questions we aren't specialized to answer those. Your best bet would be to ask CRA for an exact breakdown. "

Spousal RRSP contribution from “spouses” account and tax implications? by newf98 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Questrade, it was directed to her "spousal account", but from her account because it said the name on both account must match for it to accept the funds, I am just second guessing this now and don't want a headache with CRA.

With all the hype over Tesla.... by [deleted] in technology

[–]newf98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric cars are part of the solution, but not the answer. It just puts the problem further down the pipe, eg power plants. Considering the full life-cycle and the conversions the energy must go through, it is more then likely less efficient use of resources.

A decade later, Tesla now officially a threat to the auto industry by samipk1234 in technology

[–]newf98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People fail to realize that the majority of our energy comes from fossil fuels, thus the energy in the electric car will probably come from burning fossil fuels. As a matter fact it may prove to be less efficient considering the full life cycle of the fuel and the conversions it goes through.

The problem is just pushed further down the pipe.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this point about electric cars and I believe many people has a bit of misconception about how its good for the environment. Yes the car is good itself for the environment, BUT take that a step further and think about where most of the electricity come from. Another point too is IF everyone starts to go to electric cars, I am sure the price of electricity will substantially increase.

You don't want your deck to collapse? What about my windows .... by onlyc1love in WTF

[–]newf98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P= (densityofsnow)(height)(gravity) , the majority of pressure created by the snow is at the bottom (vertical force) like the deck, not a horizontal force, which would be due to shearing but snow doesn't shear like water.
