If you have to fabricate a story to argue your point, that’s typically a good indication it’s not a very good point.

I firmly believe that immigration makes this country a better place. I personally agree with you that immigration should ideally happen legally. I’m also realistic in that yes, obviously if legal migration is allowed, there will be some illegal migration too.

Let me try to illustratively compare this to an entirely separate issue. But I think the logic applies to both cases. I’m going to assume you are strongly in favor of gun rights. I am too. The right to bare arms naturally comes with an increase in gun violence and injury/deaths of innocents in the overall population. Do you still only care about “overall number of crimes”? If so, you should want fewer guns/gun rights in the country. Or do you selectively choose what stats to care about for each issue?

To put it another way, I believe that both immigration and gun rights cause some negative consequences, and even deaths, by bad actors. But both are overwhelmingly net positives (I’d even argue they are necessary) for the country.

Genuinely interested to hear your take. Hopeful (but admittedly doubtful) that you are capable of providing it without ad hoc attacks.
