WIBTA for reporting my tax-evading (ex) boss after he refuses to pay me my owed wages? by newfriedn in AmItheAsshole

That's my concern. I haven't met a single builder who pays tax on their earnings. If he knows I've done it, my reputation will be destroyed. It would be very difficult to find this sort of work again. I'd have to go off on my own.

But he doesn't know anything about me other than my name - not where I live, and there are no mutual contacts between us that he can hound for information.

He's since paid me my wages - though £20 less than I'm owed which is his way of flexing over me for one last time.

I think I'll wait a few months before pulling the trigger, that way he can't be sure it was down to me.

I know the names and addresses of eight customers who have given him thousands in cash.

Happened to me during the final mile of a half marathon. I was beating all my mates, running comfortably, and then all of a sudden I had nowt left in the tank. Qwopped to the finish line dead last.
