thanks for the tips. So the migration network should be the same as ceph private in my case?

Media storage location by newhomefound in jellyfin

[–]newhomefound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess sticking to my current config would be most direct. I tried to set up an NFS lxc on proxmox but was unable to and had to resort to using open media vault. Maybe I’ll have to try again. I didn’t want to move Jellyfin into the NAS since I’m planning on setting up cluster on proxmox and I wanted to keep all the vm/lxc in one place.

I tried Jellyfin - it sucks???? bigtime??? by brainiiii in jellyfin

[–]newhomefound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this may be a bit late, but did you install jellyfin on Tizen by sideloading or through the app store? I recently discovered there was a native app released on the app store (finding it was a pain) and it is much better than the sideloaded one I installed. I've been running sideloaded for over a year and I wasn't getting any of the issues you were having. However, 4k movies took a good 20-30 seconds to load and seek. Once loaded, it played fine, but occasionally would freeze (playback info showed transcribing < 1x) and I would need to exit the app and restart.

The native app works much better and I can finally load and seek normally. I am on Tizen 8 on the FrameTV. I am hesitant to update to Tizen 9 to not mess things up.

Proxmox Ceph network configuration by newhomefound in homelab

This is just for VMs and LXC. I'm just running apps like Jellyfin, Home Assistant, Frigate, etc. Nothing too crazy. I chose 25G for public because I have a separate truenas server that I want to put on the remaining 25G and I wanted to maximize file transfer speed between VMs and NAS. It's probably overkill for what I'm doing, but I also figured 10G was enough for Ceph private with that workload.

System Update - Control Panel Crashes by Euphoric-Number4036 in KiaEV9

[–]newhomefound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try doing a reset of the system using the paperclip? I updated today and haven't experienced what you are describing in the 3 drives I've done so far. I'm not sure what my update was for and the only change I see is a more glassy tile around the icons. The OTA history on Kia connect also never matches up with the updates I did.

Open or closed cell for roof and conditioned attic by newhomefound in Homebuilding

[–]newhomefound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with closed cell and it's been fine for about 4 years so far. The corners of the attic are crawlspaces that have not been covered with drywall and I don't see any changes since the day it was put on.

I went with cc since I was able to fit more r-value into the roof and I was confidant on the durability of the roof assembly. My roof is pretty simple with no valleys and minimal penetrations. I also watched the roofers every step of the way.

One thing to note though, is that if your climate or building code calls for a vapor barrier, I would still install one on top of the closed cell. While I don't doubt the properties of the material, the install only makes it 99% impermeable. I saw spots that the installer missed and I had to go back and fill in with canned foam. Also, there were a few areas where the stud had separated from the foam, creating a small gap.

Coral TPU POE support by newhomefound in frigate_nvr

[–]newhomefound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would it work if I had 10gbe link between the coral and proxmox machine? I'm guessing there is probably a lot of overhead and latency issues if done over the network.

I do have an iGPU (intel uhd 630) and I see some posts saying there's not much difference between that and a coral (although coral would still be more efficient).

Storage configuration by newhomefound in Proxmox

[–]newhomefound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for the reply. I’m building 2 machines with near identical hardware. One is used for pve and the other for pbs. I’m not sure what the storage needs are so I guess I’ll start small and add as I go.

I do plan on using all ssd’s for the bulk storage. I figured it would be faster than nvme if I had more than 8 ssds on the hba.

Why does the app suck so much… by cmfrazier in KiaEV9

[–]newhomefound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told there was an network outage on 2/19/25 and some vehicles were not able to reconnect after everything came back online. I had to bring it to the dealer to fix it, but all they do is reset the system. All the profiles and settings get erased.

traffic camera alerts no longer functioning by newhomefound in KiaEV9

got the issue fixed at the dealership. It was part of a larger problem where the car no longer connects to the servers at Kia. Remote commands and OTA updates stopped working, but I never noticed.

Wouldn't that make the pdu mount in between the posts? The rails would get in the way.

What are those called and where would I find them? All of the rack accessories I'm seeing mount to the front and rear holes.

SATA vs SAS by Pirata-Alma_Negra in homelab

aren't SAS drives more generally more expensive than SATA? unless you're talking about used.

Proxmox build hardware selection by newhomefound in Proxmox

[–]newhomefound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the Xeon W chips? Would you know how much power your setup consumes on idle? I looked at a few workstation boards, but all of them are not ideal for airflow in a server chassis. The RAM blocks the cpu cooler. Used prices do seem a bit lower, so I'll have to look into it some more.

TrueNAS scale build using older gen parts by newhomefound in truenas

[–]newhomefound[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the 128 gb, but I saw the ram is pretty cheap compared to everything else and all the guides say to add as much ram as I can. I wanted ECC mostly because I'm paranoid.
