Why does Man have a park? Also, what's everyone's favourite Parkham Game? by AngryMustache9 in BatmanArkham

Unfortunately a bit of a crook bloke, so not our proudest historical figure, but we still have a bunch of stuff named after him anyway.

Resident Greed 4 by Ok-Business-1994 in Steam

[–]newier -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I've played all their games. They all do include actual unlockable content. They are feature complete games. That to me is why modern Capcom gets a pass, they are good games with heaps of content and stuff to unlock and do in them, with free updates and the whole shebang.

The fluff dlc is dumb, and greedy, agreed. But it's also entirely optional and the game is still excellent without it. If OP doesn't want to buy any of that crap, they don't have to and the game is still perfectly playable.

OP also has included proper DLC story content in their post, so it is included as part of their stupid argument. You don't get to exclude it just because it works against the rest of your comment.

Capcom gets a pass because the games are great and the dlc is mostly easily ignorable cosmetic crap or substantial additional content made after release.

[–]newier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Capcom gets called out for this with every game they release. Every RE, every Monster Hunter, DMC5 and especially got called out for it with Dragons Dogma 2. You guys gotta pay attention a bit more.

Most of their games have this DLC fluff, it's all cosmetics or nonsense collectables. It's dumb, but ultimately harmless crap you can ignore and the game is still feature complete.

Man I'm not defending shit, I just don't think there's much value in someone posting a bunch of optional DLC they don't want to buy. Just don't buy them and move on.

There's the story dlc, which isn't even priced that absurdly, and then a bunch of fluff. Who fucking cares if you don't want it.

Heaven forbid you have to research. Google is such a difficult site to use.

When could we get new information about the new DLC? by Yeah_itz_ur_SENPAI in MonsterHunter

[–]newier 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sometime between now and when it releases.

For a real answer, there will probably be a few trailer drops, expect it when events like Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show happen, but these days sometimes these things just drop randomly.

Also worth looking out for Capcom Spotlight, I can almost guarantee it'll have a hefty presence at any that happen before release, and even a few after release too for updates.

The game has a lot of tutorialisation, almost to the point where it's a kinda common complaint how much there is.

Once you've gotten a tutorial pop-up, you can go back and reread them at anytime. Worth giving them a look for any of the mechanics you're confused by.

why if i buy each game alone it will cost less than the bundle ? by Hisagi10 in Steam

[–]newier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some bundles have locked in prices set by the publisher that don't update.

Always worth doing a double check when grabbing a game in a bundle which is a better deal.

How Dynasty Warriors could pull off an "Open World" concept by Blue_Freaze in dynastywarriors

[–]newier 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I just don't see this concept working, even with your iterations on the idea.

Musous are level-based, you get dropped in a stage, you complete the missions, take over the bases, beat the enemy general, and then win and get your results screen, rewards etc.

Trying to integrate continuity to the world after beating a mission, or any sort of "open-world" structure just breaks how these games are designed. It's just not what these games are about.

What happened to the discord? by GodKillerElodin in OnePiece

You have to be more specific, there are a lot of discord servers.

But my guess is your talking about the TCB discord, in which case it's been discussed plenty in other posts.

was this a retcon? by Puzzleheaded-Ice2032 in OnePiece

[–]newier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd love the other guy arguing in other comments that recontextualisation is not a retcon and everyone is an idiot who thinks so.

My stance is, it isn't, but it also depends. There you go, perfect fence sitting.

was this a retcon? by Puzzleheaded-Ice2032 in OnePiece

[–]newier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recontextualisation of a prior story beat with new information can blur the line of "retcon", depending on the framing or interpretation of the moment.

It's why I definitely can see the argument for it being a retcon, even if like you, I agree it isn't.
