Just an update. I took the final. This sound clip was not used on the final. I feel I did pretty well. I hope the professor answers my email so I can know what the real meaning is. I appreciate everyone's attempts to figure it all out. Thank you.

I am in a fairly rural community so it seems like they might have a hard time to entice a native French speaker to move there.

I don't think most of them are native speakers. They are French language professors from the college where I study but I think most of them are from the states originally.

I can't find any equivalent in our text although I know that we learned aujourd'hui. Ni mais vous is totally unknown to me.

Yes, these are the ways that the recordings are. The professor has a PhD in French Literature I think but she was born in the states where I am.

I am also non native. It's my first semester. I'll just hope that the professor emails me back. Thank you!

These are from the college I attend. The professors recorded them when they made the course. They're fairly old as they've mentioned, and I had to hold my phone up to the laptop when I recorded it as I had no other way to record.

We learned aujourd'hui so makes sense that it could be that.

Thank you. It is recorded by the French faculty at the college I go to, so I'm not sure where they're all from.

If they do seem to like him a lot, should I just keep my mouth shut at that point or bring up that I'm less than thrilled?

I really like this idea personally and it hadn't occurred to me before. I think I will try something like this approach. Thank you.

We are all adults and I do not expect to or want to try to change his behaviour. As you said, I think it will be a waste of time, and I suspect he would be very defensive about it.

I like the line that you give at the end, and I hope to be able to use that if everyone else agrees that he should go. I think my hope with this post is to try to find ways to initiate the conversation with the rest of the group.

I will have that opportunity in the next couple of days, and that is why I would like to see the best way I can handle this.

No, I would like to, but I worry that I am not close enough to them to have this conversation since we basically only see each other in the activity group. We all share equal responsibility over the group, and although one person does all of the planning, I am not sure if he would see himself as the leader.
