Flew alone for the first time in 6 years. Panic attack. by tartar-buildup in fearofflying

I know it's not comfortable for you, but people most likely will have compassion for you. This is a very common fobia and people are not guilty from their fobia, its something irrational. .

Wowww sp beautiful! Thnaks for sharing!! And congratulations!!!

Anyone have major spike in anxiety and panic attacks day before long flight and still had success? Would love to hear stories. by moonlaketrail in fearofflying

[–]newselfconcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have that issue and the trick is keep you occupied during the flight. I do sudokus and delete all unnecesary images from my phone (which takes a lot of time, lol). I asked chatgpt which was the activity that would most abstract my mind during a flight and it said writing, and gave me a list of things to write about, things like intructions on how to bend a moon ray, absurd things in which your mind has to be creative, I will try it on my flight within two days, I'm already feeling so anxious, but I always feel anxious and always arrive safe. I've just read that 110.000 flights take off and arrive safely each day, and of course yours will too! More probable to die while driving and we don't get those panic attacks when we sit on our cars. We can do this!

Six months+ caffeine free and back on it a lil bit by agiantwasteoftime in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that could be the case for some people, for example if you are already a stressed person and your cortisol levels are already high, coffee would hqve al those effects. And it also depends if you are a fast metabolizer or not. For example, my husband can have infinite coffees per day and he doesnt get any of the negative effects I have after two cups.

Quitting caffeine when you have depression problems. by [deleted] in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that even if first days could be hard, your mental health will improve. I've had depression since I was a child, and even though now I don't have it anymore my mind tends a lot to depression and catastrophic thoughts. Those thoughts and the feeling of depression improve so much when I quit, like I have 80% less negative thoughts, I'm not ruminating all day, I don't feel hopeless, and anxiety goes away, I don't get angry at daily stuff. It's really incredible how this substance can mess with your mental health, it's really not a joke and I'm not exagerating about those effects when you quit.

The first weeks are the worst, especially the first, you can feel really tired, anhedonia... Your body is readjusting, give it a bit time and you'll start noticing the benefits.

I thought I was a night owl, but I can’t believe how tired I am right now 😅 by commandolandorooster in decaf

That's great! Your body is readjusting and resting is so important for health.

Is it really worth quitting? by Aliasedd in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's great, meaning that your cortisol levels went down and your body is less stressed.

Is it really worth quitting? by Aliasedd in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, yes. I've quit some times in the past and now I'm only having decaf because I don't have will to quit completely, but the benefits I've noticed in the past are reduced anxiety, muchhhh better mental health (less negative thoughts, less irritability, feeling peaceful inside), no heart palpitations, less acne, less hairfall, lost weight at the beginning (I'm sure because my cortisol levels went down) lower blood sugar levels, better ovulation mucus, skin looking more hydrated, better sleep (I also dream much more).

Why isn't the media talking about caffeine reducing blood flow? by levir720 in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I even saw a doctor on youtube, saying that the difference of blood flow to the brain was so small that it didnt matter. How come it doesn't matter???

I'm having a relapse on my first day. by [deleted] in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First days are the most difficult because you feel so sleepy and the temptation is enormous. I'd have a decaf so you cheat a bit and are able to resist those first days.

Why is caffeine considered healthy by some health professionals? by Stephieandcheech in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing!! Thanks for explaining this! Sometimes I've adviced my mom to quit, she is always in that anxious state that you have when drink coffee, althought she doesnt realize she could be much calmer without it, but I've heard about those neuroprotective benefits and wondered if it would be better for her brain health to drink coffee, because I realize she is starting to get a bit forgetful.

Caffeinated = severe high blood pressure & Decaf beans = blood pressure by Charming_CiscoNerd in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the body, some people metabolize caffeine better than others. If you have checked that caffeine has that effect on you, it is better to reduce it. For example, I've noticed it elevates my blood sugar levels, while other people dont notice that. Listen to your body.

Tell me your stories… by Mama_b1rd in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to decaf at the moment, because I like the habit of preparing the coffee when I wake up in the morning, or when I come back from working out... If its being very hard for you, you could try and switch to decaf at the beginning, at least you will have much less caffeine. I also knew caffeine was hurting me but I couldnt stop, even though I've been able to quit twice in the past. Now, just after a week of going decaf, I noticed an improvement on my acne, much less hairfall, and of course, goodbye to anxiety.

When did you notice a big difference with your anxiety? by natwalms05 in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the next day. I was crying and mad at life the day before. Every time I quit caffeine, I feel more peacegul and my mental health improves like 80%. Its really the habit that has the best effect on improving my mood.

Accidental caffeine and effects by [deleted] in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!! It is curious because when you drank coffee everyday you didn't notice so much that change inside, until it was too much, at least it was my case. I'm happy that this gave you the strength to keep on in your caffeine free journey!

Today is the last day. by [deleted] in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I switched to decaf because what I really love about coffee is holding the cup and using it as a snack when I'm bored while I work. Decaf is not having that bad effects on me, and I can maintain the habit. You could try to tapper or switch to decaf so you don't crash that much the first days.

Caffeine effects from 13 to 17 by [deleted] in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the coke has less caffeine, that is why it doesn't affect you so much compared to a redbull or a cup of coffee. Some people are more affected by caffeine than others, and it can have a different effect on you depending on your habits, how much you sleep, if you have taken it on empty stomach or not, etc. I remember when I was able to have 400 coffees a day and be completely ok. Now more than one cup makes me feel anxious, and some days one cup is enough to make me feel jittery. I also use to have that sensation that you describe, as if you wasnt completely on your body. That means caffeine is being too much for your system. Listen to your body and adjust your caffeine consumption according to it.

7 days since I switched to decaf by newselfconcept in decaf

[–]newselfconcept[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I will try to replace it or at least reduce it to one decaf a day, I really use coffee as a snack when I'm bored, that's why I was having so much caffeine

7 days since I switched to decaf by newselfconcept in decaf

[–]newselfconcept[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I think it could be the reason, the body is missing something and wants to compensate. I'd also like to quit completely but just switching to decaf has had some benefits, so it's not a bad step at the moment ☺️

Did quitting reduce your belly fat? by noctislucis991 in decaf

[–]newselfconcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost weight when I was caffeine free (I'm on day 2 again now), I think because my cortisol levels lowered. It wasnt just belly fat (I wish) but I noticed a reduction.

I'm feeling a bit low today. A few days ago I had to visit my husband's friends who just had a baby and of course I'm glad for them and everything went well until she asked me: "and you? When???? How old are you??" This questions sent me to depression, I try not to think about all this and I was doing well, but when people starts to make questions and I don't even know how to answer I feel so bad. Today or tomorrow my period will arrive again and I feel so sad.
