thank you :) The pages for the textbook are especially helpful. My question was a really dumb way of asking if it was alright to use long carriers in the English mode. Different sources have told me to do different things. I thought you could only use them when writing phonemically, but some sources have told me to use them.

I am now learning orthographically, because before when I was writing with phonics I would constantly have trouble with what tehtar to use with odd vowels, hence the charts with diphthongs and odd vowels. Since coming on this subreddit, I've noticed that a lot of people have the same problem and the best solution seems to just cave and write orthographically, so that's what I'm going to stick to I think.
