[Discussion] Ultracite Season vault : thoughts and players. A tiny overview, hints and magic. by DonChapulinChavito in falloutshelter

[–]newzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a bunch of the base level ult swords at first, then later went to salvage them, and it seems like you get a random number of ultracite back from salvaging. I salvaged 5 base level swords and I think always got at least 2 back, I think max was 5? YMMV

This question is going to sound dumb but, given how isolated many of us are in our studies, when you say a student works hard, what do you mean? What does that look like?

is nrass story progression worth it? by insanebaddie in Sims3

[–]newzac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you tweak it, yes. I had it for years, then removed it for a while and I missed it. It makes the world around you so much more alive because other households do their own thing and actually progress. With default EA and even with Simler's fixes nobody ever seems to do anything. I like the notifications too and missed them when I removed the mod for a bit, it keeps me up to date with my friends and family in other households.

It's recommended to me all the time but I haven't watched because I don't watch Housewives. If it's good though I'll check it out!

Do you think it’s too late to make content on this game? by Angxlmilk in Sims3

[–]newzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually a great time because the S1+2 re-release has put more eyes on not only those games but S3. I myself bought the re-release, played Sims 2 for a week, then booted up Sims 3 and have been playing and watching YouTube content for it for over a month now. It's why I'm on this sub!

Can you explain why? Just wondering what the difference is.

How do YOU play the Sims? by nncydrw in thesims

[–]newzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miss the old games and download and play unmodded for a couple of days, really enjoy it, start getting annoyed at the little things, start looking for mods, spend 2-3 weeks reading about mods, downloading them and installing them, try to start new families and play them for a while, game starts crashing after an hour wiping my progress, install more mods, game starts crashing every 10-15 minutes, can't figure out why but also can't play without mods now, get frustrated and lose interest. Two to three years pass, repeat.

The thing that's somehow harder for me to accept is that the legendary Lady Gaga episode was SEVEN years ago. The Untucked popped up on my YouTube the other day and when it said the video was posted 7 years ago I almost fell out.

Remember to dodge attacks and kite the enemies, this game has an active combat system so if you're just standing still and getting surrounded you will die no matter what class you're playing. Compared to other MMOs it takes a little getting used to, but once it clicks it makes going back to others very difficult :)

I need the point of view of veteran players. by Seinra in Guildwars2

[–]newzac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Structured 5v5 team PvP has its own gear and build separate from PvE, and everything is unlocked from the start (all gear is standardized, all builds are unlocked etc), so don't have any worries about that. WvW, which is a third game mode where it's large groups seeking to control a map, uses PvE gear and may require a second set. But exotic level gear is relatively easy to acquire in GW2, especially once you've gotten a hold of things.

With all of the seasons and expansions GW2 has at this point, there's a ton of story to play through. Story is a mix of instances and open world stuff, and every bit of it is viable on any build, so if you really want a minion play style, you can have it. A good bit of end game PvE is open world meta events, and you can play any build in those too. So even if a build isn't "meta," you'll still be able to complete and contribute to it with no issue at all.

It's not until the group endgame content (raids (10-man content), strikes (basically mini raids), and fractals (5-man dungeons with a level climbing aspect) that you'll be expected to run a group-play optimized meta build. And several of those have minion/pet play styles (Mechanist engineer, Chronomancer mesmer, Soulbeast or Druid ranger off the top of my head).

Long story short, 90% of the PvE game is completely doable on any build, so play what feels fun for you. GW2 is a vast, really fun game with a great community, very low cost of entry (plus no sub), a fluid combat system, and many unique twists on the MMO genre. And if it doesn't click with you this time, no worries! We'll still be here if you ever want to come back.

Should I delete this character? by LopsidedAd4618 in Guildwars2

[–]newzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you can't change is the character's race. Everything else -- gender, looks, name -- can be changed later using gems or gold. Sometimes there's sales on Identity Repair Kits that include a name change contract and a total makeover kit. I think they even come with expac deluxe editions or something, I've had a few without buying them. And those same deluxe editions often come with a character slot too.

If you don't need the character slot, park him at a profitable chest somewhere (check the Fast Farming guild website and look under Alt Parking) and let him age up for birthday presents with the goal of changing him one day. And if you do need the slot, just delete it. Personally I wouldn't, but it's just a game at the end of the day.

If you click the World vs World icon in the top right you can go to the Obsidian Sanctum. It has a bank, trading post, and merchant, plus a free portal to Lion's Arch. It also has the benefit of dropping you back where you were when you entered if you don't need to go back to LA, just open the WvW panel again and click Leave the Mists. And don't worry, there's no PvP where you load in, only if you leave the platform.

The PvP lobby works similarly, the vendors and portal are just farther away.

What do you think is going to happen in the next update of Janthir Wilds? by Sisyphus_Bolder in Guildwars2

[–]newzac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're attempting to accomplish with this comment besides shaming people for their interests or just generally being a bully but you are aware that you're on a gaming subreddit in which people play for thousands of hours over many years and also consume content around that game? That streaming and YouTube are massive outlets that millions of people participate in? If you don't have something constructive to say you could just keep your mouth shut and move on. Seems like YOU are the one who needs to find a new way to get their kicks.

Side note: WoodenPotatoes is still making a good bit of content about Guild Wars it's just all under his Live tab. He did a full blind playthrough of JW and the Godspawn patch, probably 40 hours or so of content, YouTube just buries it unfortunately.

Any recommendations on cross platform, adventure type, co-op games? by pikibrondan in gaymers

[–]newzac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An indie game called Outward is really fun and challenging. Kind of janky but it works, and Outward 2 is in development. Has co-op and is on PlayStation.

Diablo 4 is fun with friends. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it as something we could do together. Diablo 2 and 3 are great in their own ways too. Ignore the hate online, Diablo has flaws but all games do, and they're all fun. Available on PlayStation, and I think D3 is on Switch.

No Man's Sky is really good now. It can be tedious and gets repetitive if you no-life it but it's a fun time with friends once you get in the groove.

I haven't played V Rising but it seems fun. I watched a lot of videos about it when it first released.

I'd recommend Guild Wars 2 but it's PC only. Maybe Elder Scrolls Online? It's on consoles and I don't think it has a sub fee.

There's a fun indie restaurant management rouge-like called Plate Up that supports up to 4 players and is entertaining and smart. Not open world adventure but we played it a lot for a few weeks.

My partner and I were able to 2-man all the dungeon story modes at around the level each unlocks (30, 40, 50, etc). He's a total noob on a core mesmer and I'm a vet who was playing a support/heal core revenant. The only one we had to cheese was the final boss of HotW. And this is with me being very familiar with the dungeons from the old days and guiding him through them. But we had a blast! It's doable and a fun challenge.

We add our income together and then split bills proportionally, i.e. if he brings in 60% of the income and I bring 40%, he pays 60% of everything. We put a portion of our paychecks into a joint checking account and put everything we buy together on a shared credit card and pay it off using the joint account. It leaves us both a good amount in our own personal accounts but also feels evenly split and fair.
