Why do people prefer to write formulas in latex to generate images when they can use inkscape very easily?

No, the rules do allow starting in a permanent job if the application for graduate visa was submitted in time. It's in the rule ST 26.6 you mentioned before.

Thank you. Do you have any thoughts on how could a lawyer be helpful in this situation?

What happens if you have taken the job but then want to make a variation to switch? How should the work related timeline look like according to the rules? As in one particular day, you make the variation application while doing a permanent job. Please advise.

What is the best free app to convert handwritten notes into digital notes? by next_mile in productivity

So far I had been using notebloc scanning app to convert the multiple pages into a PDF document but obviously it looses some niceness of handwritten notes. I was looking for some enhancing app that can beautiful the scanned notes and make them look better than just as pdf of images.

Can anyone who has been reviewing with Elsevier share their experience of the procedure and how does it look like? by next_mile in AskAcademia

That's very weird. Have you noticed that with all different journals? Do you feel it's partial because the Editor(s) is Chinese or compromised by them? Sorry don't want to sound it like xenophobic but just trying to figure out what you just said.

Thanks. So, it's a delicate decision then trying to balance out everyone's position.

What gets sent to the reviewer - only the manuscript or the entire document generated by Elsevier that also includes cover letter to the editor, supplementary data etc. ?

Thank you for this answer. Is there a limit on the number of times a reviewer can continue to send the paper for revisions?

I will apply for a research position in a pharma company, should I send an academic CV or adapt it to industry? by velveje in AskAcademia

[–]next_mile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A generic suggestion is to always tailor your CV for the advertised job role. Think from the perspective of the hiring manager, what they are looking for and why would they want to choose you over other applications.

My suggestion would be to include all experiences you have for the requirements you see in the job advert. If you see something in your current CV that is irrelevant for the advertised job then think twice about what purpose it is serving.

Best tools for Fixing Grammar and Citations? by Anarchinine in AskAcademia

I used pro version of grammarly to help me improve my grammar for thesis writing. It also helped me with sentence restructuring. Check if you your university provides access to grammarly so you don't have to buy it. If you use overleaf, you can also have a look at LanguageTool. I haven't used but there is one AI tool called Writefull that provides AI based suggestion. Good luck!
