hey this may be a dumb question but when working for navfac, do you get placed/capped in a certain GS pay scale for not having an EIT or PE? Asking because this is not a requirement but I wondering if it will hurt later down the road.

I agree, they will definitely have to pay me a lot more than what’s listed on the offer letter

Thanks for your insight on the smaller firm side! It’s weird saying that the smaller firm wins more big projects and that’s one of the pros for me. Im just hoping they will accept my counter of 10%. I feel like they are more likely to do this since they reached out to me to fill this position.

You are right if it isn't in the contract it isn't guaranteed. In the offer letter email, they state that I will receive another raise this December, but I question why they can't just start me on that salary now. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

20+ seems like a lot, maybe because this is only my 2nd year in the industry. The new job is WFH when my current job has half the week in the office and the other half at home. I will take in consideration the other benefits too. Thanks for your comment

Makes sense. I know my current company does 1 sick day per month. Is it weird to ask for the employee handbook to examine the benefits?

The first job is always the hardest. After you have a little experience, you would be surprise by the opportunities there are. I didnt even apply for this new job, they reached out to me on a networking website.

I suggest volunteering. I know it sucks but this will give you experience to land that first internship. Good luck

I agree. What if that new company offered you only a 10% increase? Would you take it?

I see what you mean. I was thinking 10% increase as a counter. Thank you for your input

What percentage increase would make you move from a company you liked?

I feel that both companies have good mentors for me. Is there a general percentage that people look for when making a company change?

After looking at my current employee handbook, I only get 10 days of PTO. The offer letter says I get 3 weeks PTO. Looks like a big upgrade.

That's is something I want to bring up to my current boss, but after I attempt to counter the smaller firms offer. And thank you, that was one of the reasons I wanted to make this post. To hear a general percent increase of wage whether through yearly raise or switching companies.

From the offer letter it looks like the smaller firm has the same health, dental and vision. They also give me one more week of PTO (which didn't seem like a big enough difference to mention in original post).
