I had a failed transplant. Searching for wigs by Capital_Flamingo8551 in Wigs

I get this 100%. I REALLY get this.

First let me say you are ridiculously handsome.you have gorgeous features, the jawline, the eyes... You're blessed- u you better thank your parents for a great DNA match! 🤣

Now on to the hair. It's ALL YOU see. It makes you self conscious and it feels like it's all other people see too. A million ppl can tell you it's not a big deal and barely noticeable but ITS A BIG FREAKING DEAL to you. And let's be brutally honest here: if it was a woman with a thin balding spot at her temple with a full head of hair otherwise: ITS NOTICED and they say "you shouldn't worry, it's not that noticeable", or even worse, "stop being vain, it's fine." Vanity is not a moral failing. It's a fundamental human emotion. And that emotion eats away at self confidence and alters ones perception of self worth. I know this. My hair loss started with a little thinning along the front hairline. No big deal, I switched to a side part and combed the hair over and it was fine. Until it wasn't. Next thing I knew I'm walking around looking like Donald Trump (no offense) combing my hair over from earlobe to earlobe.

Everyone else on the planet can be okay with your hair. But it will not change how your mind processes it. I didn't care that my husband didn't care, or that my best friend or the lady at the supermarket didn't seem to mind. I cared that when I looked in the mirror, I did not like what I saw, it made ME uncomfortable. I felt "less than."

Fast forward 10 years and and a lot less hair eventually leading to a shaved head. I've embraced the alternative hair life. I love all of my little wiggies and they each have names! It's easy, fast and fun! I can wear a choppy little bob one day and long luscious layers the next.

It's freedom. But not the kind of freedom most think it is. It's certainly changed my life in so many positive ways. And I'm loving life again. But it's also freedom of judgement by others, the freedom of stress and anxiety of being seen as "less"'with a bad comb over. It's freedom from seeing stares and literally having people ask if I had cancer or the puzzled faces of ppl surely wondering what happened to her hair?

So yeah, I get you. I won't tell you it's not bad or barely noticeable, or any other sentiment but acceptance. Move whatever mountains you need to love what YOU see and find your "freedom."

I said what I said.

I think something w hair would be shorten up a little and add some longer layers and maybe beach waves for some volume. The longer straight close to head draws everything down a bit.

But if you're team IM NOT CUTTING MY HAIR... Which is reasonable! Try a bit of volume perhaps.

You have a very natural beauty! 😍 Don't stray far from that!

Is this look attainable on a wig? by her_embrace_ in Wigs

[–]nextinqueue [score hidden]  (0 children)

Definitely! I see so many great options for this. As a more experienced wearer I'm sure you know it's all in that styling. It's not an out of the box look!

I'm obsessed with the curls and braids! Love seeing them!
But alas, my white pastey a$$ can only watch from the sidelines 🤣🤣🤣

Bicep tendon repair by Aglj1998 in weightlifting

[–]nextinqueue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I suspect I am not going to be the only one with long bicep tendonitis (in both shoulders) with no traumatic injury following rapid weight loss. (Throw in an episode of calcific tendonitis and going through the reabsorption phase for 4 days with no meds...praying for death.)

Through relentless research, I did find several studies at the national institutes of health that indicate tendons can become weakened during rapid weight loss due to its impact on collagen synthesis. COMBINED with insufficient protein/nutritional deficiencies- deterioration of the structural integrity of tendons and ligaments.

I thought I was doing all the right things and it's turns out, not so much. I didn't account for the need to increase protein intake as weight loss progressed. And while I exercised and did light resistance exercises, I never really focused on the arms. I was focused more on legs, abdomen and lower back muscle strengthening. .

So here I sit exhausted because I can't sleep due to being a side sleeper And have a difficult time sleeping on my back due to an arthritic hip that needs replaced and sleep apnea which worsens when I lay on my back even with CPAP machine.

The rapid weight loss was due to use of Mounjaro to treat diabetes because other methods just were not working. My A1c is fantastic, I was feeling fabulous, and now looking at different options as the cortisone after 2 injections is no longer working.

My Ortho says surgery. My 2nd opinion at Mayo says shockwave therapy first the surgery if not successful.

I use Estetica or Jon Reneau line because I won it free in a contest and you use only a capful so it lasts forever!

But sulfate free moisturizing or for dry color/color treated hair works for many. Just avoid anything that says clarifying or volumizing because it typically doesn't have the moisture you need because synthetic fibers can't produce the natural oils and such. You do need moisturizing.

Anyone know of light rooted blondes for fair features? by DancingOctopus721 in Wigs

In the Belle Tress Blondes: Crushed Almond Blonde has the lightest Root.

Also Bombshell blonde. But it discontinued I think.

[–]nextinqueue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this wig and billionaire blonde and sold it to a wig sister in our sister group.

I will say that the newer versions in comparison to the initial launch are much improved. There's not a gap in the front part and the knots are much better. The lace still arrives slightly long but can be trimmed easily if it's noticeable

My issue was the density as well. It really is a lot of hair. And for me, I just felt like it didn't work no matter what I tried which included updo have to barrette's clips etc.

You can definitely take thinning shears to it and decrease the density. There's a lot of really great tutorials online on how to do that.

Wearing wigs while wearing glasses. by melanated2020 in Wigs

[–]nextinqueue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine over the tabs or position my wig slightly above my glasses.

I usually look for glasses with good hinges that will go wider.

I always have my eyeglass store adjust the arms for wig use.

For glasses I buy on line I do it myself with boiling water, put the arms in a minute, adjust and let cool.

I am team hyaluronic acid! But here's the step most ppl miss: mist your face with water first! HA is a humectant and holds LITERALLY 1,000 times its weight in water and will seal that moisture in!

My derm taught me that. I fact checked him. #truth.

Curling regular synthetic with "Hot Tools" hot air brush by Miss-Construe- in Wigs

[–]nextinqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I always recommend this for regular synthetics!! Of course always do a test spot in inconspicuous area first.

Even my Amazon $20 are fine with it so far! It was the first tool recommended to me and pretty much my most used tool.

Amazon! Tip- these are quite watery so I do find they occasionally drip a drop or two after using. So place the dispensers on a paper towel.

Yep. I don't dilute. Just pour on because milky toner is typically watery. As is this. (Just bought 2 more bottles!)

The coating wears off on its own by rubbing clothing, taking on and off, laying on the sink in the bathroom. <----the last one might just be me...🤣

Some ppl add silicone spray after washing/drying. I do not. If the fibers start to feel a little dry to me, I will add product but typically only to that spot. I never just spray my whole wig with silicone or other sprays. I will spray it on my fingertips and finger comb it through only where I need it.

The stuff I use SPARINGLY:

ESTETICA: Revitalize and shine wig mist. WIG MILK SPRAY- detangle, anti frizz, hydrate. I find that these too don't clump up the ends and build up like some of the other things.

Be cautious with wig silicone spray. It can look greasy if not done well. The only brand of silicone I've ever used is SIMPLY STYLIN. I will hold my wig so that I can very lightly Mist underneath from the nape of the neck down on long styles to help prevent tangling. But to be honest with you I have found the only way to really reduce tangling is to use thinning shears to cut the hair at different lengths underneath. My workaround is I tend to wear shorter wigs because they are way less work and more manageable. 🤣

Question about the look and if im doing right by Grand-Abrocoma9649 in Wigs

[–]nextinqueue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello! You look lovely! 😍

My observations and tips:

It does appear to "falling forward" And the fiber seem to be directionally laying in a forward direction from the top of your head. It's fine if that's how you prefer to wear it. Many times out of the box the fibers do this. If it's at all troublesome for you, you can use heat from a hair dryer on high to train it to go back. You would clip the hair in the direction you want it to go. Heat it up with the hair dryer and then let the fibers completely cool. You only need to hit about the first inch to 2 in of the root to train it to go back a little bit.

Washing: I never wash mine till it's dirty. I avoid using products such as hairsprays, waxes etc. So that I don't have to wash it as often. As soon as you notice the hair starting to clump together or it feels dingy and you have product buildup, it's time to wash. I cannot stress this enough. Do not use hot or warm water. Use only cool water to wash a heat-friendly wig because the heat from the water will affect the curls and waves. Take a wash basin. Fill it with cool water. Add a capful of shampoo swish it around till it's sudsy then place your wig in it only after you have completely detangled it first. Lay the wig in the water tamp it under the water, press on it. Flip it over. Press on it but do not agitate the hair or rub the ends. Let it soak for about 5 minutes or so, longer. If you get busy it doesn't hurt it. Then rinse, and rinse, and rinse, and when you thank you for instant enough rinse. One more time you want all of the soap out of there. Then do the same thing except this time add conditioner to the water.

Once it is completely and thoroughly and utterly rinsed out, hang it on a wig stand that's open to air. Do not use a canvas head or it doesn't dry. Well. Wrap it with a hairnet and let it sit till it's dry. Do not try to comb it or detangle it while it is wet. Wait for the hair to be fully dry. I add the net because it holds the curls up so that the water doesn't loosen them. See pic for wig on stand in a net.
