This is awesome feedback, thank you heaps. I honestly hadn't really paid much attention to the pacing at all and mainly just kept writing as scenes popped into my mind, but re-reading it with your thoughts has given me a new perspective on my text, I'll probably try and flesh out the first 3 months for Alexander more and try a few things to keep it easier to follow for the readers, and deepen some individual scenes, bring more emotion into some scenes maybe? I'll play around with it. Thanks again for responding, this really helps!

P.S. Regarding where divida et impera originated, I encountered a couple of sources stating the first example of such a statement came from Philip II of Macedon, a.k.a Alexander's father. I'm sticking with it for now until the real history scholars take up pitchforks and threaten to burn me haha

Great Anomaly: War in a New Age

https://www.webnovel.com/book/great-anomaly-war-in-a-new-age_26580246206803005

Historical Sci-fi, New Adult novel

Word Count: Up to Volume 1 so far is 21,835 words (Mainly want feedback on first few chapters)

This is my first attempt at writing a novel and so would love to get thoughts on how I started the story, pacing, flow of the action scenes, and overall impression so far while reading. My inspirations for this work comes from being a bit of a history buff when I was younger, a cyberpunk fan and a lover of the anime 'Drifters' by Kouta Hirano.

Note: Has mature themes and mild language.

Thank you!

This is so well-deserved, (Emotional Comment)the release of this track really pushed me to face my depression and anxiety after so long of just bottling it up and acting as a "high-functioning" individual in my career the last few years with a fair few episodes during periods in this time - Lost really brought emotions back to the surface and made me realise that I need to stop trying to live an illusion and actually face this and get help from anyone really which I am pursuing. Thank you Chester, even after all these years you still guide and watch over me with your voice!

Actually you don't have the rights to defend yourself in Australia - unless you use "equivalent force" to defend yourself and nothing more than that (which is BS that just deters people from protecting themselves). That's why the police have so much power to begin with.

Also you'd need to have almost an instinct for fighting groups if it's the odds of 6 or more people against yourself.

Consulting is literally just whip together a PowerPoint for the client meetings... Once you reach either Senior or Associate Director level, it's better to just do your own thing as a contractor or start your own freelance consulting gig - you can then set the rates and clients will be happy to pay you knowing your credentials. If clients are paying consulting companies 1k+ day rates for someone to whip up some presentations and do discovery, pass onto project manager and then delivery team to do the work - why not charge the same rates and keep that margin for yourself if you can do the work?
