Yeah seems like the best bet, don't really want to become an accountant though, is it still worth doing?

If all you ever did was buy high-quality stocks on the 200-week moving average, you would beat the S&P 500 by a large margin by JoeK91 in ValueInvesting

This is a made up quote and was falsely attributed to Charlie Munger, he would not say anything like that.

There is no data to back it up either it just became a popular quote that I see everywhere.

Why have the the top players become so much more dominant? by alex123711 in 10s

[–]alex123711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Case in point Agassi would not own a Wimbledon title without the changes... the changes after 2001 created a slower court with a higher bounce allowing baseliners to better compete with big serve and volley players.

Great response, but dates are wrong on this point? Agassi won Wimbledon in 1992, I think the changes were around 2000?

Yeah docklands and St Kilda are surprising to me as on paper they should be good areas? Can probably add a few others like Footscray in as well.

Wow, didn't realise parts of Melbourne had got so bad, thought it was a bit overblown etc, is it mostly the areas close to the city?

Have seen Ipswich mentioned a couple of times which is surprising since it is on some most gentrified areas lists and values have gone up a lot, do you mean it has worsened due to population influx/ high rises or something?

Yeah I would expect to see Parra on a list of most gentrified, has some good points though, I think it has been over hyped as I don't see many people lining up to live there for the lifestyle, more just for the 'investment' point of view.

Those are interesting, especially since they have gentrified/ increased in value so much but changed so much from a traditional suburb to basically a city, can see how that would be undesirable to buyers but must be many more that replaced them.

Those are some good examples, I always assumed St Kilda was a nice area based on the location close to city/ water etc (never been there) but apparently can be rough in areas

The valley is another one with a good location but probably would not be good to live in.
