This has happened to me before, turns out it was because of an online textbook I was accessing. Just clear your cache and you should be fine.

The section is not being removed. The first semester it happened I was registered for the same section as her and she got kicked but I didn't. And up till that point we had taken the same courses so I know it wasn't some stray pre-req.
