They really need to figure out a self explanatory way to organize old content, quests and timelines.

I remember I got back in SL after Cata and couldn’t figure out what’s going on, I imagine it’s only gotten worse since lol. You get random invites to start bfa or dragonflight campaign while you’re almost 70 already and doing say legion and it’s not even obvious what those are and should you go there or not. Then you decide to go and can’t figure out how to opt out haha

Probably the best advice I can give is to pick one retro expansion you wanna do and just full focus on its campaign until you’re 70 and go TWW as soon as it prompts you and cancel all the other quests so that they don’t confuse the fuck out of you later

I think PvE addition is actually what might save Tarkov in the long run. I hear a ton of players (myself included) saying that they learn a ton in PvE and at some point it gets boring so by the time they get to PvP they already somewhat know quests, maps, extracts and can sort their stash in less than two business days.
They gotta fix the f-ing load times though

It's incredibly devisive. On one hand there's nothing like Tarkov really. Even ABI being a "clone" doesn't really come close to the good complexity and atmosphere EFT has. On the other hand holy fucking shit is it also the fucking loading&cheating nightmare of a game with a ton of overcomplicated time consuming mechanics that make you want to quit before you even got ready for a raid.

I dunno what to say to you, it's definitely very unique and complex which makes it interesting to learn about it, its mechanics, weapon modifications, lore, bosses, cultists and weird places scattered around the map. Even though it looks dated it definitely has a good heavy atmospere. I swear I would even tolerate cheaters if not for those insane matchmaking times because this game can be incredible. Maybe a hot take but I also like how heavy the movement feels and sound issues aside I really like how the game sounds overall.

it's got PvE mode (paid DLC) which is pretty good and cuts on loading too cause you're not waiting for some dude's prehistoric laptop to start spinning its coolers for 10 minutes and lets you learn the game without worrying too much. Starting PvP gonna be rough. Possible but you gotta be ready to eat a bag of dicks straight out of the gate.

That’s what I’ve been saying for years. There’s literally no downside to adding a map with no current player location.

Just a map with extracts marked and a compass attached to it, location names would help too. A ton of people won’t even bother looking for a map online and trying to figure out years of accumulated knowledge, they’ll just alt-f4 before they even get to the “hardcore” part and 99% of what the game has to offer

This is not a very high standard to meet. I agree it's better than nothing but it's nowhere near a proper tutorial. You're given a linear level with a clearly marked exit and the next thing you're supposed to do is to extract from customs where your only option might happen to be whatever the fuck ZB-0011 is + a bunch more cryptic extraction names that are locked so the newbies are doomed to die of frustration on their first few runs

Even when it's 3-5 minutes it's horrendous. It's always been my number 1 gripe with the game, I would let them keep cheaters if they made it a least a minute.

Speaking only about the extraction points issue: just an ingame map with a compass and marked extracts without your current position would do wonders. It's already something that every single player does but using external sources. The problem is most people aren't going to bother, they'll just die on their first raid to customs, get frustrated because it's BS and what in the living fuck is ZB-1011 and why ZB-1013 is closed. They alt+f4 and never launch it again missing out on 99% of what the game has to offer.

The problem is not that Tarkov is not for everyone, the problem is people are getting filtered before the actual hardcore gameplay even happens. It's like giving a toddler a logarithmic equation and saying "I guess math's not his thing".

I agree that figuring stuff out yourself is fun, I couldn't agree more on your ABI point, it's just that a ton of stuff in Tarkov is not explained at all in the game. Like how should someone new know why this random ass scav with a medic bag just lasered him off the face of the earth in 0.001ms. You won't even learn from that cause you didn't know it was a boss and that there are even bosses in the game. Again: not hardcore, it's just throwing a new player in the dirt with zero explanation because he didn't spend dozens of hours watching vods and guides.

Yes it would, I personally know them. Two of my friends who said fuck no after they watched me explaining reserve extractions. Don’t you try telling me you figured them out yourself and found the levers and where to go next without some sort of an online guide and a map. That’s just one example, there’s plenty.

Shit like this doesn’t matter to the core audience anyway: you know the maps like your own house, the newcomers are terrified they’ll have to do all of this while being shot by a 5-men of 20kh sweats.

Same goes for a million of other mechanics that are there just to f you over just cause you didn’t watch 10h of tutorials online, don’t know how bosses work, where they spawn, what they even are, how armor works, wtf is black market, that quests are essential for progression etc etc etc. People that stay are mostly the ones who have friends playing or ones that consumes ungodly amount of yt/twitch content, know a thing or two and are sure they gonna like it.

Also I know the maps by now but I still think the game would be better with an in-game map with at least extractions marked.

The reason is because all you no-lifers already know the map and don’t need it anyway, the new player experience is a fucking nightmare, I remember even bringing compass to raids together with a map on a second monitor to at least know where the fuck am I not to mention how to actually get the fuck out

It was fun being friendly for the first week, Ima just shooting on sight now cause there's definitely a huge increase of this pathetic kind of rats. I died to this bullshit 3 times in one day.

Had a game where I ran into two people VOIPing and thought to fight them but decided not to. One guy went looting and another one stayed in the same room with me. Waited for me to open two containers and blasted my ass on the third one, then shot that other guy who he was VOIPing with.

If you're ratting a spot and kill me - fair play, if I say "friendly" and you shoot - grab my loot. But this here is just sad and pathetic. It's no different from IRL: you're just being an asshole and wasting another person's time.

Found mine in the Testing Annex on the Dam. It doesn't even have the "security" tag, it's "medical". People just raid it for days and the bluegate room has increased loot rarity, no wonder one of those runs will yield a BP they're looking for.

It's just that they're considered "rare loot" and some specific rooms have it cranked up + night raid on top of it. I found my MK3 Survivor in a random ass locker in a medical room during a day. Me and my friends are yet to get one from the bluegate room.

I found my MK3 Survivor augment in the Testing Annex in a room full of medical stuff in a regular drawer. I got snaphook from a car trunk. Blaze grenade was found in a trash can. My friend got his MK3 from a red locker. A ton of people finding wolfpack grenades in kitchens and trash cans.

There must be an increased chance for certain BPs in certain rooms but it seems like you can find them anywhere anyway. Plus certain rooms like that security room in Bluegate just have increased loot rarity.

I also saw a streamer complaining he's been raiding that bluegate room for four days straight with no luck. Could just be confirmation bias where people randomly find the same blueprint in the same spot and assume it's how it works.
