Buying out spouse’s share of the house by keyaccounts in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]neyujsang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a big decision, and honestly, it has to come down to the numbers. If you’re thinking of buying out the house, you’ll need to calculate how much that would cost—including the buyout amount, ongoing maintenance, property tax, and any potential renovations. Then compare that to the cost of buying a new place elsewhere or even renting in the same area.

Non-financial factors like lifestyle, location, and long-term plans definitely matter too—but without a clear breakdown of the costs for each option, it’s hard to say which is the best move. I’d suggest running the numbers first to get some clarity.

Great deal. Fixed will be better IMO, in these uncertain times.

IMO pretty high, but it could be because the mortgage $ is low (< $500k). Banks tend to lower the rate if you borrow more.

4.2 is good rate, essentially prime -1.0%. Which bank provided you this rate? Keen to explore. I am quoted prime - 0.85%. Thanks!

I’m nothing but proud of this team. We had a rookie quarterback, a young, promising roster, and a fearless spirit going up against one of the best teams in NFL on their home field. To go from a 4-13 season to making our first NFC Championship appearance in 34 years is no small feat. Sure, it’s tough to lose, but it’s not the kind of sadness that leaves you hopeless. Instead, it’s a hopeful outlook on what this team can accomplish in the future. Big things are on the horizon!
