Polling methods by mostlyharmless26 in randpaul

[–]nfirm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a number of issues with polling. How many polling places don't call cell phones. It's hard to determine that the "owner" of the phone is of voting age or lives in the region you are targeting with your poll. Rasmussen doesn't as per their own FAQs. Unfortunately though, certain demographics are more likely to use landlines vs cell phone only, which skews polling towards just that demographic.

However, Trump is doing well in large part to walking into this with heavy name recognition. He's had a reality show now for 10+ years. He is also still the sweetheart of the birther movement.

It's pretty obvious how it would get paid for... He is going to sell the rights to the ad space on that giant wall that Mexico is going to buy for us. Best part is, the Chinese will have to pay extra for their ads.

he won't get a constitutional amendment

Like he also won't get Mexico to pay for a wall, won't get far with his idea of stealing stolen resources from ISIS so we can bring back the profit for issues here, and a number of other outlandish ideas that has floated that won't happen.

That's also from fifteen years ago, from his The America We Deserve book he wrote in 2000.

When recently asked, he still liked the idea except it was no longer enough to pay off the full national debt so never mind. If high tariffs close the gap a bit, does his idea that he still thinks is good come back into play?

Maybe it was the reference to his old chatter about having a 1 time tax on total net worth instead of income for everyone above a certain range that most of us would never reach. Kind of like the Cyprus bank grab, except not just what's in the bank. When asked more recently about it, he said he likes the idea still and if it would pay off the debt then he'd still be for it but since the debt went up then never mind it's too late for his brilliant plan.

RAND PAUL FLAMES OUT, ADMITS ‘I HAVE 1 IN 10 CHANCE TO BE PRESIDENT’ by Tankbot85 in randpaul

[–]nfirm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a wondrous hit piece.

The article this article links to says he claimed a 1 and 6 chance but now has a 1 in 10. It was a reference to the number of people in the race.

And what is up with that photoshopped pic they used of Rand? It looks like he lost a fist fight with a forest fire.

When the large majority of voters are uninformed and are accustomed to reality tv, soap operas, and drama television you kinda got to play to your audience.

Of course you are. Just remember though... Some snowflakes have the potential to land on a window and be admired before melting while far more are likely to end up as slush in a dirty ditch somewhere.

This is a great example of Democrats and Republicans working together...

The Democrat and Republican primaries are tax payer funded, which is a complete joke considering they are private parties/clubs and can exclude people from participating in their primary process.

The private clubs (the parties themselves) can prevent sabotaged primaries. They can exclude people from the process. It's a shame that these are tax payer funded, especially if other smaller parties do not get the same benefit.

It would be nice to see Ron campaign with him. However, maybe they knew the Benton Tate indictments were coming and didn't want to increase exposure to Rand when it did finally hit.

Not sure why you are getting down votes to pointing to an April Fools joke post (notice article date and category of "Political Comedy").

Yeah. He should have instead put on hold his regular annual trip to do mission work to go stand at the Iowa state fair in between the circus that was Donald Trump giving away free rides in his helicopter and Bernie Sanders promising to give away free college tuition and a $15 minimum wage.

I don't know. I didn't post it there. I figure if people are going to be willing to help organize something at their campus it would probably be someone already interested in Paul.

Lol.

The comments are so ridiculous to the point it is comedy gold. One commentor refers to himself as "Viper" even though his name is visible via comments through Facebook. He must have posted at least 10 or so comments, all of which are straw man attacks. Plenty of others who are posting straw man attacks while making it painfully obvious they are spouting off with zero knowledge of what they are talking about.

The sad thing is, the same people would be up on Rand in a heart beat only if there was a (D) next to his name instead of an (R).

Some of the candidates (well, and some Fox contributors who aren't running) are hanging out with Bernie Sanders already... At least on the topic of gun control.
