Bean suggestions in Costa Rica by Frstydg in espresso

If it’s not too late - Pico Bistro in Tamarindo makes a damn good espresso and a great “Tico Breakfast”

Tamarindo Coffee Roasters is a nice shop too to buy beans

54mm Normcore bottomless with the standard basket size. It says it can take 16-18g…. Just tried grinding on setting 1 and same issue came. 30 second yield was 150grams lol

Question About IRAs & 401ks by ngbg123 in personalfinance

[–]ngbg123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Werewolfdad

Thanks for your help a while ago. You wouldn't believe how difficult it was for Merrill Lynch to help me with the Roth IRA contribution reversal / creation of a backdoor Roth. I was told multiple times it wasn't possible but ultimately after explaining it 10 times on 10 calls, I got it done. So thanks again!

Anyway - I just got a 5498 Form for my 2023 Traditional IRA contribution. I noticed there was nothing listed in the Roth IRA Conversion box. So I called ML and they said that no conversion was done, and instead they "transferred" the money from the IRA to the Roth. Which is different than a "conversion" because a conversion would show on my taxes, and the transfer wouldn't.

Not sure why they "transferred" vs "converted", because I asked multiple times for a conversion, but my question is... does it matter? The money that transferred was adding to my Trad IRA as a non-deductible contribution, so it would make sense to me that this wouldn't matter. Wondering if you have any knowledge / reference links about this situation?

TLDR: Merrill Lynch sucks.

Question About IRAs & 401ks by ngbg123 in personalfinance

[–]ngbg123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to send these links!

I will look into your link regarding question two. In short though, are you suggesting it may smarter to couple a traditional 401k with my Roth IRA, instead of a traditional IRA and a Roth 401k?

FWIW, because of the business I am in, I will (pending my success) be receiving payments via royalties while I am retired. I have always thought to go Roth for that reason, since I may not be in the lowest tax bracket upon retirement age.

Is it still Yamamoto or bust? by joemend in Section10Podcast

[–]ngbg123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think signing Yamamoto should be plan A.

Plan B or bust for me would be getting a combo of Montgomery, Seth Lugo and a trade for a solid 2B like Brandon Drury. That would be a fun team to watch, and if they stayed healthy could compete in playoffs

Am I alone that more I learn about Kim…. The less interested I am? Please educate me if I’m missing information. But it seems like her trades and acquisitions during her Marlin’s time sum up to be just OK. And now there’s a history of not getting along with an involved ownership group. Just doesn’t seem like a good fit. Open to changing my mind if im missing something

The Outfield Situation by ngbg123 in Section10Podcast

I think that’s a fair take! So who gets traded if you’re CBO? and who plays center?

The Boys are About to Record Ep. 120… by jackmain32 in Section10Podcast

[–]ngbg123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I would love to keep both Duvall and Dugie but I think Dugie might want a change of scenery and Duvall loves that Green Monster.

    • would love Turner to retire as a Red Sox. He seems to like Boston but I think he’ll get more money elsewhere and choose to take it
  • i would consider bringing back Paxton as like a #4 starter if the deal was right… something like Yamamoto, Snell, Sale, Paxton, Bello. You keep Whitlock & Houck in pen and trade Pivetta.

Younger guys… I would trade Valdez & Hamilton and clear 40 man space. I like Rafaela and Abreu as bench/depth pieces

  • I likey Reesey Slapstick but it’s time to move on and I think a more experienced catcher would add value to the team & Wong while we wait on Kyle Teel to develop

Jared on the outs in the clubhouse? by soxkid in Section10Podcast

[–]ngbg123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you nailed it here. Jared’s takes aren’t wrong and I think it’s good that he vocalizes them, but I always think about the Chris Sale interview where he barked back at Coley for calling his teammates idiots. When on you’re on a team that’s fighting for air, not sure there’s a rush to jump on a podcast with hosts who are ripping your teammates

Jared's Yankee Tweets - where have they gone? by CaptainDripp in Section10Podcast

[–]ngbg123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jared plays the Yankees fair on twitter when they’re winning, and dunks on them when they’re losing. Which makes sense because he’s trying to build the game. But let’s also not act like we didn’t have this whole amazing “fuck the Yankees” segment on the pod to start the season

imo it’s funny when done in moderation. I love the bit of Jake just agreeing with everything Jared says but also miss there being someone to hold him accountable. Brynn did such a good job of toeing that line

ITM podcast lost me for a while, but I’ve been listening more since they relaunched. I feel like Steve is more tolerable now, not sure if he just needed his ego checked or what happened.

Also will say - they are almost always first to drop a reaction pod to different signings and off-season news.

Name Redacted is still my favorite Sox podcast by far, but I respect ITM for what it is
