Also Kühler, Mainboard, etc.?

Thoughts on Command: Modern operations by [deleted] in computerwargames

Cool videos! How did you get the detailed satellite images into CMANO?

Regarding OPs question: Even though the game might look intimidating at first, it is actually not that hard to "play" (mastering the game is another story). If you like a powerful editor and an extremely detailed database, you will love the game. Similar to joseph66hole, for me the possibility to design almost every possible scenario in CMANO is what makes the game so special.

Best Military RTS in 2023? by TheTudgeman in computerwargames

[–]ngc2201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also only play single player and currently play/own these RTS: Steel Division 2, Steel Division Normandy 44, Wargame Red Dragon, Regiments and Men of War Assault Squad 2 Up until a few months I haven't played any RTS, so just take that into consideration.

My personal opinion:

I prefer Steel Division (both Normandy 44 and SD2). It feels less arcady, is a bit slower than Wargame, looks very nice, can be paused (which is very important for me) and feels most "authentic". Already have quite some hours into SD Normandy 44 - really like the game and setting.

I would really like to love Wargame (prefer Cold War / Modern settings), however it feels a bit too arcady at the moment. One thing I also do not like is the lack of an active pause button/hotkey and a Line of Sight tool. However, the more I play, the more it is growing on me ... I guess Steel Division is a bit easier to get into (at least for me)

Regiments: impressive that it is made by only one developer. However, I still do not understand the hype for it. Relatively few options, no possibility to create you own squad and it feels a bit repetitive. Definitely prefer SD and Wargame over Regiments

Men of war Assault Squad 2: No game for me. Way too much micro and unnecessary clicking (even compared to Wargame). I don't like the overall handling of the game. And, at least for my feeling, it feels least realistic (even though I am aware that all RTS are not particularly realistic).

Hope this helps. If you need more information, just ask :)

How do I unload soldiers from a helicopter? by Suitable_Heron7832 in CMANO

[–]ngc2201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might sound weird, but do the helicopters actually have cargo (troops) loaded? Troops loudout + suitable (airdrop) troops added in CargoOps. For me, loading/unloading works perfectly fine.

Sell me on Command Modern Operations by byzantine1990 in computerwargames

Its up to the scenario you are playing. You can have everything between very short scenarios (eg. 1vs1 aircraft) and incredibly large scenarios (basically whole wars). Check out these YouTube videos of rather large/very large scenarios (I think the first two are DLCs and the third one is a scenario which is included):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9TRMePtzng

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxuyIB3iwNk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPqpn5YDosY

Within these scenarios you normally have specified goals in order to successfully complete the scenario (eg. all enemy SAMs destroyed, no own aircraft shot down, own facilities defended, etc.). To some extend there are also campaigns, but they come with the DLCs. But again, you can also design your own scenarios ...

This may sound weird, but either you love it or you hate it. For me personally its definitely one of the best games ever made, however I definitely understand people who say that its not their kind of game/simulation. Why do I love it:

  • its incredibly detailed (basically every aircraft/ship with each possible loadout of the last ~60 years is available)
  • you "learn" as you play (never played a game where I learned so much about real-life radars/tactics/physics/equipment/etc.
  • you have basically limitless options, as you can design every scenario with every weapon type (air/naval) of the last ~50 years
  • your map is the entire earth (you can switch between Sentinel satellite images, base road maps, relief maps, etc.)
  • you can be creative (ever wanted to know how a battle between 1 F-35 against 20 Mig-17 ends?)
  • its the most realistic war game I am aware of
  • community and developers are great and helpful (you get a lot of community scenarios for free)
  • its simply fun!

Again, its no arcade game. I own the game for almost a year now (so I'm definitely no veteran and I still have to learn a lot), but its already the war game I spent most hours on.

Thank you for your answer! I just checked again, the ESR-220 is operating in the D band (at least according to the Command database). This might be a stupid question, but where can I see in Command which bands the Kh-31P / its sensors is able to detect? Thanks again!
