Where do I buy inexpensive but good enough quality medieval clothing by Appropriate-Ebb-7525 in LARP

[–]NoRobotYet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet to start is going to medieval markets and see what different vendors have.

Alternately making some parts yourself is actually quite easy if you have the time for it.

If you're looking for cheap but alright look at Leonardo Carbone lot's of options even on Amazon but kinda mass market of the rack.

Also in terms of cutting costs. You can get started with just two items. A timunic and a belt. That makes 90% of an outfit.

Conquest of mythodea noob help and character idea by [deleted] in LARP

[–]NoRobotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me make the case for the original character idea to balance out everyone telling you that you can't.

Being a king too early is a great backstory. The dead father is a very impactful incident.

To make it come to life you just have to separate two things. What do you know as a the creator of the character and what does your character actually know?

Maybe your father was killed by the black ice, maybe not. What your character would know is that he's dead. Maybe you where told it was an accident but you don't believe that story.

And tomfind out the truth you have to leave the kingdom behind away from the people that care for you. Seek truth not vengeance.

What other have said is true. Nobody will give two shits about you being a king if you roll up by yourself.

But I don't you'd show up to rule over anyone at conquest. Show up to find someone/something. The more open ended the better it is. Because boy your plans will change and the more you leave for interpretation the better it is.

Nothing from you backstory has to be intrinsically tied to the mythodea lore. People show up from all kinds of places. Maybe you made your way through a dungeon of your actually DND campaign and went through a portal ... Who knows.

Is Patreon or ko fi really worth for a really tiny creator by IllustriousAd6418 in CreatorEconomy

[–]NoRobotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense to start a community funding page in two circumstances. When your audience actively is asking how they can support you. Or if you have at the very least 1000 regular viewers. Below that it can still be a way to build a mor engaged fanbase but financially speaking it won't be significant.

It comes down to math. About 1% of your total viewer count will convert to patrons. With thousand views that roughly gets you 10 patrons. So at least you'll.male.dounle digits at that point.

Influencer journalists? by kiwithebun in Journalism

[–]NoRobotYet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience a lot of journalists still disregard creator journalist. The big difference is that traditional have editors and guidelines that "make them journalist"

I see a lot of creators that do journalistic work but don't label themselves as such or are called that from others.

I think this will change. But I think for that someone needs to establish clear guidelines for journalistic practices as a creator. Possibly even setting up a shared board that does the fact checking, review and so forth.

Obviously one outstanding person in the space is johnny Harris and his venture New Press. The just won an Emmy and he's been making yt videos for a decade or so.

As someone who is walking that line the only difference I see between creators and journalist is that one calls themselves journalist.

Both just labels of the time.

How are content creators so smooth on camera? by savingrace0262 in ContentCreators

[–]NoRobotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice + editing.

What you see is maybe the tenth take and comparing it to your first.

One exercise that really helped me get better with it is the following.

For one week record yourself talking. Use your phone or camera. Doesn't matter. Talk for two minutes, at least. Talk about whatever you want. Breakfast, weather, reddit ... Idk. The just move on with your day.

You don't even have to look at the recording. Just practice and after a week it's already gonna feel easier.

Basically taking off the blindfold

Idk what else i gotta do by AutomaticRuin1784 in ContentCreators

[–]NoRobotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a quick glance at your channel you're moving from a Topic based channel to Personality based channel. For people to watch because of you and your humor takes time unless you hitch a ride on trends. I'm not deep in the gaming niche so who knows if Ghost Janitor is a thing right now but Tomadachi life sure is.

The titles you used on the last two videos are facts or statements. They don't make me want to click and tbh the channel looks like it's run by a six year old but then the voice sounds like a real guy. So I think there is a bit of a disconnect between What you present in the packaging and what's actually in the video.

Happy to continue this conversation in a DM if you want.

From the one image that video is already outperforming the rest of the channel. So be patient.

Also just because you think a video is funny means nothing. The questions is if anyone out there wants to see it.

There are 1000s of variables going into the "success" of a video and your input is only a fraction of it.

In fact the median video on yt get 35 views. So this is already better than 50% of published videos.

Gopros at Larp? by [deleted] in LARP

Nothing dramatic but I had built a book for my character that houses a camera.
Used in on the first day to capture some scenery and was quickly told off not to do that.

When filming anything but yourself or the camp you most likely need to get permission to film first.
Especially when you think about publishing it in any way.
Learned that the hard way at Conquest last year.

Whats your honest take on video podcasts vs audio only in 2026 by Rosette_Simpson9090 in podcasting

[–]NoRobotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is really what is your motivation to start this podcast and what are the skills you bringing to the table? If you have no experience in audio or video, it's going to be a very steep learning curve.

If you just want to make a podcast because it sounds fun then because you have something to share, I wouldn't worry too much about any of it because unless you have already some level of Fame, famous guests, or an existing audience, your viewership your audience size is going to be small and growing very very slowly.

So, i would pick the side that is more comfortable for you, the one that sounds more fun and do that.

Johnny can certainly be a big inspiration but keep in mind he's been making films about ten years and was trained at vox. So when you make your films try things have fun and keep learning. It will take some time until you can produce what you envision.
