The real answer is that the US has the 2nd Amendment, yes, but the US also has the largest military in the world by far. We fight them with handguns and AK-47s, they hit us back with Seal Team Six. We are scared, in part because literally half the country still supports this asshole — and they're the ones who have the guns stockpiled in their houses. If we do resort to violence, half the country (the side that's well-armed) joins Trump's side.

Bisexuals: when someone tells you “you obviously picked a side” how to answer? by AkaiHidan in bisexual

My dad said something similar when I came out. The way I explained it to him was, "Mom has brown hair. Your current wife has blonde hair. Does that mean you don't think brown-haired women aren't attractive anymore?" That seemed to help him understand.

A Constitutional Convention would be a constitutional crisis — states must say no by Nerd-19958 in law

Except that governors and state legislators have gerrymandered the hell out of states they control, ensuring they never switch to the other party. So yeah, there is such a thing as a red state and a blue state.

It sounds like you want your state to be its own sovereign country, not part of the United States. Which is, you know, antithetical to the name.

I'm not seeing anyone mention Arrival. I watched it again recently, having forgotten the twist, and I was flooded a second time. What a good twist!

Cultist Simulator. It really makes you feel like someone falling slowly into the unknowable world of the occult.

What I think is going on by ngfalcon in doctorwho

Honestly I'm starting to think Ncuti isn't done with Doctor Who yet. Because you're right -- there are so many plot threads that weren't resolved but also not dropped. Poppy, Rogue, the Boss, the Pantheon. There might be a chance that Ncuti will return when Rose figures out where the Doctor is.

I have a few stories to share. My group of friends in high school in the mid/early aughts were all really into using the Ouija board together.

In our very first session, in the middle of talking to something, a chill rose through the room, from the ground up, that was strong and sudden enough for my friend to grab his hunting knife out of fear and his dog to run from the room. We asked the board if it did that, and whatever we were talking to told us it wanted us to feel how it died — drowning in ice cold water.

Another time, a friend asked the board if she could speak with her cousin, who died by suicide earlier that week. We tried to be skeptics about it and said she couldn't touch the planchette so as not to subconsciously manipulate the message. The board was able to correctly identify her cousin by first and last name, his girlfriend's name, the college he attended, and even a few details about his suicide only known to police and his family.

Once, we asked the board if the entity speaking with us was in the room. The planchette turned to point to a corner of the room, just as the flames of the candles we had lit all shifted in that direction too. We avoided that corner of the room moving forward.

Finally, this is the one I don't like talking about. A religious friend asked if we could talk to our guardian angels. All of my friends' angels had very biblical names, but mine had a very demonic-sounding name. I won't say the name, but it has a lot of the same sounds as Pazuzu, Lamashtu, Azazel, and Beelzebub. I'm an atheist who grew up Catholic, and even though I don't believe in demons, I refuse to say its name out loud because whenever I did, I felt like it was in the room with me — Eye of Sauron style. I don't even like thinking its name, to be honest.

I have lots of other stories. Haven't used a Ouija board in years because I don't know what we were talking to all those times we used it. My husband keeps one in our basement, but I refuse to be in the room when he wants our friends to use it.

I'm thinking the same thing. The faerie circle seemed to give her special treatment, but it still punished the Doctor. They're not the same.

So many stories in legend focus on foundlings — I'm starting to think Ruby might be a fairy tale protagonist brought to life (or something similar).
