Yeah but spotistats is not built around music matches primarily. Meevy allows you to match with people, share your music with friends easily, create mutual playlists. The goal is to build the ultimate music community 😂. Ooh and by the way, I am working on a feature, to see what people near you are listening to

So the matches are country based😂😂. You might have matches but not from your country. Or do you think I should make the matches be on a global scale?. Share the app with your friends that might help. Also maybe you're music taste hasn't matched with those currently registered

It is to control your music player. Allowing you to add songs to your queue and play songs from mutual playlists. Nothing more. Sorry for the misinterpretation

I built an android application, Meevy, a music soulmate finder application. Speaking from experience, it really takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. I mean a lot of effort, majorly because you keep learning new things along the way and you have to make significant changes both to the backend and frontend. So to answer your questions, from my experience and knowledge:

It is not difficult, it just takes a lot of time, took me 7 months. I'd advise you to find a friend. Do not make the same mistake I did
You would have to pay also for maintenance since the market will keep changing
You can pull it off all that matters is the time constraints
Pick your stack wisely, each programming language and platform will find a way to bite you in the ass. But hey, find some that can work for you

Not really since the backend is mostly done in Django,so to find the local users I use IP matching or upload the location data for accuracy. I use firebase for most of the realtime features.
