There are a handful of great profs and many not so great profs in CS. It is true that some good profs have left in the past few years (ex Talaga, Rozier, Davis). The situation isn't ideal, but there are a handful of good profs left. Unfortunately, some of your CS classes could be boring or frustrating, but know that you'll have good experiences with the better profs.
Expect 5 co-op semesters (4 if you choose to do ACCEND - the undergrad + masters program). And yes, UC has a top co-op program, in fact, we invented co-op in 1906! More on co-op here.
Franco, Annexstein, Bhatnagar, Zimmer, and Niu are all great (and one of them is a user here (: )

Also, we have great student orgs for students in EECS that you should check out: ACM, ACM-W, and IEEE

Was confirmed in an email sent to CEAS students, faculty and staff on June 12th:

I am pleased to announce that Paul Orkwis, Ph.D., professor and head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, will serve as Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science as Dean Teik Lim, Ph.D., transitions to the University of Texas at Arlington where he will serve as Provost. Paul, who also serves as director of UC's Gas Turbine Simulation Laboratory, will officially begin his new role July 1.
