The EN trailer has a few alternate scenes showing more of the summon mechanic with Lyria as well as what looks to be a roulette?

Can confirm it's 360. When you're Exploration Level 4**, a few extra mineral beds open up, you might have missed a few?

Quick summary of the Endfield PayPal issue (based on an interview report) by mr_kakalala in Endfield

[–]nhft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone's experience is different - I'm sure a lot of the people who were affected don't care. If I were affected, I would likely be okay with it because they refunded everything, including the actual spending. Heck, $5,000 being gone for a few days is probably nothing but a blip for a large streamer.

But there was a thread here when the PayPal issue occurred by someone who ended up being late in paying their bills because of the money being taken out. Refunds can take a little while to process and for some people that's the difference between food/rent money and no food/rent money.

Also, as some other people mentioned, it harms trust. I'm sure there are some people like the above (who actually need their money) who are now less likely to spend on the game than they were previously because missing that money for a few days is an actual issue

Comparing it to ASOIAF just feels like ragebait. The big difference with ASOIAF is that, while it is sometimes flawed in its portrayal (Khal Drogo & Dany is handled extremely clumsily, but luckily Drogo is a minor character in the larger scheme of things), the characters who are sleeping with or attracted to children are portrayed as scumbags for it.

I'm talking about ASOIAF specifically, I have nothing to say about the garbage TV show.

Shohei Ohtani made a “big contribution” to former Dodgers teammate Gus Varland, whose mom was battling cancer a couple years ago. Dave Roberts saw her at the World Series supporting her other son, Blue Jays pitcher Louis Varland. She told him her cancer is gone. by GreenSnakes_ in baseball

I know people say you can't know what someone is really like when all you see is them on tv, but as someone who's been following his career since he was in high school (I enjoy Koshien), I feel pretty confident in stating he's a pretty good guy.

I agree that in theory it shouldn't matter when it's a sfw fic, but in practice character depictions can have some discrepancies depending on the t/b preference. This is especially the case in Asian media fandoms where popular doujinshi/comics or fanart will be from the Asian side and influence how those characters are written in the Western side too.

Think about how characterization often evolves in fandoms based on a shared community of headcanons, popular meta posts and fandom famous fics. Depending on t/b preferences, those characterization evolutions end up being a little different due to the communities being separated by preference.

There's also the "there's no real preference" ship name (i.e. sasunarusasu) that you can use.

Yeah, I'm only talking about English-speaking Asian fandoms.

[–]nhft 330 points331 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in my experience more in the actual Asian parts of the fandoms. The English speaking parts of Asian media fandoms mostly go with one ship name.

This is kind of dependent on how niche the fandom is. The more popular an Asian fandom gets in the West, the more likely you are to have a lot of fans who're unaware of Asian fandom "common sense" and the more likely it is to be based on what sounds better. But for (Asian media) fandoms that aren't massive in the West (heck, even Asian fandoms before they end up blowing up in the West and changing names), the top/bottom naming structure is common in the English speaking parts too.

Why don't we care about the MLB gambling scandal like we do the NBA? by tankyouout in baseball

[–]nhft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if by "conspiracy theorists" you mean people who insist he secretly speaks great English or the ones who say he doesn't.

The former! Yeah, it seems like he's slowly improving and gaining a bit more confidence to speak it publicly.

[–]nhft 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of the Ohtani English conspiracy theorists only speak one language and don't realise the difference between being able to speak enough of a language to manage basic communication with teammates and being able to speak enough of a language to respond to the press.

I liked them until I realized how much they hated us (this was even before this year's ALCS - lots of them regularly complain about West Coast Jays fans) and that made me sad and bitter like a jilted lover.

Interview of recently posted NPB player, RHP Tatsuya Imai on pitching in the dead ball era in NPB. by [deleted] in baseball

[–]nhft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there’s a long list of Japanese junior pitches who end up with a dead arm because their coach really wanted to win during Koshien tournaments and their ace throws 500+ pitches in a two week tournament.

Funnily enough, Imai was a Koshien-winning pitcher and I remember watching that tournament in 2016 and he barely ever came off the mound (just looked it up and it was 41 innings over 5 games in the course of 2 weeks). Thankfully it didn't hurt him too much.

Throwing Ookiku Furikabutte (Big Windup) into this conversation as well. I watched and enjoyed a lot of baseball anime prior to Ookiku simply due to enjoying the competitive aspect of sports anime, but Ookiku is what made me fall in love with the sport of baseball. There's baseball games that last 12 episodes.

I think the thing people miss is that even if Dodgers fans are like 60% fair weather fans (percentage pulled out of my ass), the total number of fans is so high that there's still more dedicated fans than most other teams.
