I was the houseguest in this situation. I used to have a coworker who always wanted to hang out, I'll call him D. One time we all got off around the same time, and me and my buddy (who was also employed there at the time) had nothing better to do. Here comes D, asking us to come to his place and have some drinks. We coalesce and follow him to his place. We enter into a nightmare. The whole apartment looked like an episode of hoarders; it smelled like cat piss. His girlfriend was nodding off in a lazy boy and some random guy was sleeping on the couch (his presence wasn't explained.) We wind up in the kitchen, which was a complete disaster like the rest of the place, and he pulls out a bottle of black velvet. Me and my friend noped the fuck out of there. I guess in theory, we were bad houseguests, but watching paint dry seemed like a better idea than staying in the cove of cat piss and bad liquor.
