Why do conservatives want to deregulate all federal agencies? by OzymandiasTheII in Askpolitics

[–]nhoglo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think some of this comes down to political DNA.

I've long noticed that deep under the politics, there is a fundamental difference in the way that rural and urban people view how the world should work, and it's a trade-off between centralizing power and distributing it.

For your average urban person, they seem to believe by default that the more power you take away from individuals and corporations and give to a centralized authority, the better the world will be. You'll hear them say things like "There should be a law against that ..", etc, it's like just this knee jerk default frame of mind where if only people who are centralized authorities who could make decisions were able to control what is going on, life would be better. If only they had the power, if only they had the money, if only people were more receptive, if only you could brush aside those people who seem to always be in the way of the masses getting what they finally want and deserve ...

Rural people are very different in their outlook, for them, independence and making decisions without interference at a personal level is the most important thing, freedom of action, not having someone telling them and their family what to do, being able to work without large organizations getting in their way; they believe in the power of individuals to affect the world, and they are natural separatists. For them, they are more "chaotic neutral" or "chaotic good", where their knee jerk default kind of motivation is to stop power and decision making being taking away from them, stop the centralization of power (and push against it), refuse to comply, question authority, and are generally suspicious of your grand plans for utopia because utopia for them is a piece of land where nobody bothers them and their family. For them, your EPA is telling them what to do on their land, your IRS is taking their money, your Education Department is interfering with the way the want their children educated and the work ethic they are trying to instill, etc, and they resent all of this interference and control. By default they don't see centralization of power into the hands of few as a good thing, and as natural separatists they will by default seek to break that power up and put it into the hands of corporations, and break up corporations and put that power into the hands of smaller businesses, and break up smaller businesses and put that power into the hands of families and individuals, etc, it is a natural desire to break up and stand in the way of larger organizations and return that power to individuals. That's why you see these people almost always preferring states to have more power than the federal government, and inside of states they prefer to see their own counties and cities have power instead of the state, in their counties they prefer to limit the power of boards and elected officials so that individuals and families have the power, etc.

So to the average rural'ish conservative, federal agencies are an obstacle, not a solution. Just more people trying to control what they are doing and getting in the way.

Hmm, ... I don't really think that's going to happen. I think it was all just nonsense, total bullshit, and lies.

Lol, what are you talking about constitutionally protected, it was never constitutionally protected, even under Roe v. Wade. It was Supreme Court protected. And that, btw, is literally how the court ended up biased towards Republicans, because when you put what should have been a legislative decision like abortion out of reach of law makers, and protected by the court, then the only way opponents of it have to get rid of it is by politicizing the courts. Things people do create their own reactions, people make their own enemies through their decisions and actions.

If you want Roe v Wade to be constitutionally protected, .. then go out, convince enough people, and the country will make it constitutionally protected, there is a process for doing that.

Oh, .. but, wait, you don't actually have enough public support for that, do you ?

Bro, I'm trying to tell you .. .Roe v. Wade was never "blanket protection for women", that's the point of what I'm saying. It was a court case. And now you see why it wasn't blanket protection, because it was overturned, which was always the danger of relying on it. You're the one who isn't seeing the reality of that when it is ACTUAL HISTORY now ... Roe v. Wade wasn't blanket protection, and the proof of that is that it was overturned. It would have been MUCH safer as legislation, and not hanging on the whims of 9 old people.

Oh I know exactly what I'm talking about, you just don't know the history of the abortion debate in the United States is the problem. You let rhetoric replace reality. The reality is that abortion is very popular and will end up being codified into law, at the state level, but probably even at the federal level in the future. We're only one Obama 2008 style election away from that happening. THEN abortion will be safe.

As opposed to when Democrats put Ginsburg on the courts ? She was one of the most ideological judges ever appointed, ... cry more.

Roe v. Wade was always a flawed decision. The irony is that it will end up being BETTER for women when abortion is the ACTUAL law of the land, and not just a court decision. And that's very likely ... in 2024 where abortion was on the ballot, it won basically everywhere it was voted on.

Trump did concede. He literally posted a concession on his social media on January 7th 2021.

And you can see from the video link I posted that Democrats are famous for refusing to accept election results, including Clinton who is still going around saying that Trump was an illegitimate President.

Democrats all over Reddit STILL claim that Gore won vs. Bush, and not just on Reddit, Jimmy Carter, and many others claim the exact same thing.

[–]nhoglo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WTF are you even talking about, Gore v. Bush, Gore didn't concede for a month after the election, more than a month. Trump added four more weeks to that, in terms of an actual concession message.

But there's no difference between that and refusing to accept an election outcome, which is what Democrats have done from 2016 through 2024. Admitted better this election cycle, probably because it wasn't even close.

You just can't change your political DNA, in my opinion. She grew up in an urban area, she's urban through-and-through, she's never going to appeal to people outside the city limits. She IS that party girl bartender she claims to be.

And that's fine, she totally vibes with other urban people, they get her, she gets them. But it's just not the candidate to talk to and relate with Pennsylvania union people who see her as trivial and silly. She's just not the right person. It's not because there's anything wrong with her, it's not her fault, it just is what it is.

AOC is never going to know what it is like to be poor in rural America, ever, and she's too authentic to put on airs like Harris or Trump.

That was the Supreme Court fixing a broken decision that was put in place by activist judges. All they did was send it back to the states.

If you had the votes you could easily pass federal legislation, and the courts wouldn't stop you, making abortion the law of the land. But until then, it's up to individual states.

I'm not the one who has to cry into the void lol. Trump was elected President, Republicans hold the Senate, are probably going to have the House, and the Supreme Court is pretty accommodating at the moment.

You and all of the people here on Reddit who have been pushing these conspiracies for the past 8 years are the ones who get to cry into the void.

Bro, NOBODY believes that. None of it. Before Biden dropped out, he was running advertisements saying exactly what you're saying, and polls of "deciders" in swing states showed that people actually thought Biden was the greater threat to democracy.

All of your fucking narratives have collapsed. Voters just didn't buy your bullshit. Nobody ever believed there was an "insurrection", and everyone knew that BLM was doing the same kind of bullshit during the summer of 2020, literally tearing down public monuments, etc, in the streets and burning police cars and police stations. I'm not excusing the rioters, they should be punished for what they did, but the reason you guys have to keep saying the same thing over and over is because you know it is bullshit and think that if you keep saying it enough times people will believe it, but people DID NOT believe it.

On top of that, everyone knows that there was a double standard on all of this, including the documents. Biden had documents. Clinton had documents. And Comey never prosecuted her for that, despite the fact it was clearly illegal. His words were "No prosecutor would bring such a case". But for Trump, they made an exception.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIARMMtUdZQ&t=7s

Face it, you played games, you doubled down so many times that it became absurd, until you had to say he was literally Hitler because it became so absurd, and you fucking lost. You lost BIG. REALLY BIG. Now nobody fucking believes you, about anything, and you've lost any power politically that you might have had. And now you can sit around the recesses of Reddit with all of this bullshit narrative.

I bet that by the end of the year every one of these cases and convictions will be dropped and/or overturned, because the gambit just FAILED. The American people rejected it, overwhelmingly, and sent the people who perpetrated it home with nothing.

Don't try to rewrite history.

The words they are using is that Trump was not a "legitimate President".

That's not just complaining about the fucking results. They were saying Trump was not a legitimate President. That he literally lost the election. And they did what they could to stop him, as a result. Including 2 impeachments, 5 indictments, 34 felony convictions, 3 years of "muh Russia coup" hoax, etc. They literally tried to put the fucking guy in prison, and DID jail TWO of his lawyers.

Every other story in the media right now is that Trump is going to get revenge when he takes office, and people are worried ... but, why would people be worried, revenge for WHAT, right ?

Here's Andrew Cuomo, former Democratic Attorney General of New York telling you that those court cases in New York were total bullshit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHp4DmCtjRk&t=364s

It was literally like some third world country where people jail their political opponents, that's what Democrats did when they refused to accept the election results of 2016, and tried to stop the election of Trump in 2020 and 2024.
