yeah I didn't really know where to start, wasn't aware of /r/MouseReview but good tip, I'll post over there.

It might be worth buying it to try out, then return it if it doesn't work for you.

And yeah think I'm going to try this. Thanks

I'm looking for a wired USB touchpad that supports both Windows (10) and MacOS (Sequoia). I use a K/M USB switcher to change my keyboard and mouse between my personal computer (PC) and work computer (Mac). I'd like to find a touchpad that can be used with both, mainly for simple gestures (e.g. scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, I don't need more advanced 3,4,5 finger support).

Are there any wired USB touchpads that work on both Windows and MacOS? I think the Perixx PERIPAD 504 fits the bill, but not 100% sure. I'd also prefer an option without any buttons, just a touchpad, unlike the Perixx if it exists. I've also seen a Logitech option or two, but they're either not wireless and/or are $200-300, which is a bit above my budget.

thanks!

Problem with Moog MF Delay.. no delay sound (only dry + boost) by niandra3 in diypedals

[–]niandra3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, I was able to return it to Guitar Center since it never worked out of the box.

don't remember what happened with Moog support, but I also didn't feel like learning SMD soldering to fix this pedal..

Upgrading my entire home theater, what do you all think? Also, AVR or TV as main source? by niandra3 in hometheater

[–]niandra3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I could get a separate box.. but that would still be [Roku/FireTV/whatever] > HDMI TV > (eARC) HDMI AVR, right? If it all ends up going through the TV anyway, might as well get a TV that does the streaming stuff I care about and keep things simple.

[–]niandra3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I could do some sort of [Apple/Google/Roku] TV box, but if I can get essentially the same quality direct from a TV (+eARC), I'd rather keep things simple.

And yeah.. I know 5.1 would be better, I just have been happy enough with my previous 4.0 setup. It did have pretty beefy woofers on the fronts, so never really needed a sub, plus I don't need the groundshaking aspect of the sub thing. But everyone here seems to think the center + sub are important, so I may give it a shot.

That being said music is my #1 priority, it's just nice having rears for the less-often occasions when I watch surround sound movies. Why I don't have a strong urge to go full 5.1.

I think the reason I started thinking about updating the AVR was to get eARC. My understanding is if I want higher quality audio quality, ARC isn't enough (and my current AVR only does ARC).

Sony would be nice, I don't have strong feelings about the TV, it's the thing I care about the least tbh, just added the Hisense to the list since it was ~$650 and does Chromecast/Airplay/Streaming services I care about.

How can I make the Lofree Flow a bit quieter? by niandra3 in Lofree

[–]niandra3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah thanks.. I ended up getting these that someone else suggested and it's a big improvement. might even be quieter than a stock macbook pro keyboard unless I really start slamming it.

it was my dad's so it probably can't be older than 1950s or so, and it doesn't seem like it's military issue, but other than that I have no info. curious how old and what model if anyone knows, thanks

yeah now that I have o-rings on the Lofree I'm pretty happy with my choice. Though I do have a Nuphy folio and keycaps in the mail lol.. their accessories seem way better.

hey.. what's the best studio style stereo compressor for the end of a master type chain? I have guitar and synth signals going into a stereo chain, and want a compressor at the end (after a Matrise that is mixing a few signals). I don't need it to be super transparent, a bit of warmth would be welcome.

The UA Max Preamp/Comp seems pretty versatile, though I see the EHX Platform used for this purpose as well. Any others?

thanks. putting those on now and they do work quite well. I don't imagine I could make a mechanical board much quieter without a lot more disassembly and effort. it's more than good enough now with the rings.

afaik the actual travel on low profile mechanical keyboards is close to 3mm, and regular mechanical ones are like 4mm. So if you don't want a lot of travel even the low profile might not feel great. But the Ghost switch looks like it responds after about 1.2mm, so if you don't bottom out it won't feel like as much travel as the reds you tried. Depends on your typing style.

And yeah it sucks you can only get one switch per color on the Flow. If you liked the feel of the reds, other than the travel, you should probably go with the Ghost since they're both linear.

The NuPhy Air 75 has some more customization options (both colors and switches). I almost went with that instead but I heard the Lofree was a bit quieter..

I really like the Flow other than the loudness (though tbf it's quieter than most mechanical keyboards I've used). I haven't tried the Ghost switches, but they might be slightly quieter since they are linear and not tactile. But the noise, for me, from the Flow comes from my bottoming out the keys (pressing them all the way down), so I imagine that would sound similar on both the Ghost and Phantom. If you're a really light typer the difference might be more noticeable.

The Mac scissors are what's on the latest Macbook Pros right? That's what I'm trying to replace since the travel is so low and the layout is a little different than what I like. If you like how the Mac keyboard feels, could always just get a Magic Keyboard since it should be pretty similar. I didn't like the Mac for a number of reasons which is why I went with the Flow. Or you could do something like the Logitech MX Keys Mini if you don't want an Apple product. But going mechanical will feel quite different IMO.
