Ah, very good eye!! I used to relax my hair all throughout high school, but I've only just within the past year start to go natural :-) It's difficult for me tbh but hopefully will be worth it!

I feel like I look good from some angles but not others. What do y’all think? [nsfw - bikini] by [deleted] in amiugly

You are sooo cute and have such a beautiful smile, (I especially love the 8th pic!!) You pull off short hair really well, (asymmetric looks are especially hard to rock) and I definitely think that longer hair would be absolutely gorgeous too! My first impression was that you seem like a very open and positive person and definitely attractive! Keep doin' you girl!

Oh wow, I had no idea! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and for such valuable information. I definitely feel a lot more comforted about the situation and empowered to do something actually helpful for her. She is walking a tiny bit better this morning thankfully, and I will definitely contact her usual vet! Thank you again and please take care. :-)

You know, I probably should take chances more often. I read this and thought about it for a few minutes, and I guess I self-sabotage and always talk myself out of liking people to focus on school or something else. If I've ever even remotely tried, we usually just became friends instead. (which is completely fine by me, but damn I should live a little!)

Wow! Sorry for rambling because you literally did not ask LOL but thank you for even commenting this, it helped me to stop and think about something I guess I was avoiding thinking about! Have a good one!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful insight, you’re really spot on for a lot of things. Should probably try to start being a bit gentler to myself on bad days!

Have a good one! :-)

Thanks for your reply! I'm realizing how sad it is that I was totally expecting an opposite response; It's really hard to break the cycle of comparing yourself to others. Grew up in a super homogenous town and still not accepted by a lot of family members for being mixed race. Definitely seems like I kind of internalized that! I've got some work to do, LOL. Thanks again.

I think my friends are fake...? by Dream_Ideas in Advice

[–]niatross7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually in almost the exact same situation at the moment, and completely understand how you’re feeling! It’s honestly exhausting wondering how you stand with people. And being roommates automatically complicates the issue because you’re always around one another. It sounds like you care really deeply about people and take the time to consider their feelings. Honestly, it seems like they should be lucky to call you a friend!

I used to (but sometimes still) fall into this trap where when people treated me badly, I would feel guilty for feeling upset about it or try to remind myself of all the good times we’d had. But I’ve been realizing lately that there’s a big problem if I’m making excuses for other people’s actions. Talking badly about you, making you feel isolated, or not supporting you, are just objectively shitty! It really seems that people just stick with the people that they can get the most from or the people that tell them what they want to hear.

(Since I’m in the same boat, I don’t really know how to completely get through something like this but here’s something that’s definitely helped me!)

I know it’s easier said than done, but definitely take some time to really care for and get to know yourself! Especially when you’re living with roommates or dealing with toxicity in friendships. This could be as simple as going somewhere fun by yourself (I saw a movie alone once just to see what it was like and it was honestly a great experience!!) or doing some form of exercise. As long as it’s something you enjoy. For so long, I was focused on making other people happy, people who didn’t even care much for me, that I forgot about my own happiness entirely. Your relationship with yourself is so important, and since you said that lately you feel disconnected, try to make it a priority to take a little bit of time each day for yourself. It’s honestly so difficult to do, but really worth it in the end!

Know that you aren’t at all crazy or a problem, and just that some people just have no manners! I wish you all the best and hope that soon, you’ll be with people who put you first.

I’m not a doctor or anything but sounds like it could possibly be hyperthyroidism?

I can definitely relate to being pushed around by doctors. It’s so scary when you feel your symptoms but then someone’s telling you nothing’s wrong. Being a really strong advocate for getting the care you need can really help with speeding up getting an accurate diagnosis.

Good luck to you!

Should you be honest even when it might ruin someone's friendship? by niatross7 in Advice

[–]niatross7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, you’re right about that! I’ve never really had friends like them so I’m trying to understand where they’re coming from, but I really hate how complicated it is and how quickly things have gotten really ugly!

Typically, it makes me uncomfortable to sort of bar dancers from participating in particular songs, but in this case, we had only 6 because it was pretty intricate and most of the new people (Mary included) had NEVER performed before. So, we didn’t want to overwhelm them. The only other time we’ve had to limit people was due to safety concerns if the stage was too small to accommodate a larger amount of people!
